Mr. Novak is a good man with nimble hands, and has done more odd jobs in his life than folks can count. His wife is the expert, the specialist, the solar energy artist! He? he's a knave of all trades, if the knave were a genuinely good person. For all the frustration piskey thefts cause the trolls, most of the DeBukes have to admit that the man is amazing at tasks that require nimble feet and even nimbler hands! Fine detailed work is no stranger to him. This has made him his wife's beloved 'Sticky fingered oompa loompa'.

In fact, when he was a wilder, he was actually a part of a motely which got into quite the situation looking for the then Missing HIgh King David, oh they weren't the ones who found him, but rather they uncovered a nefarious plot that threatened a whole kingdom, and by the skin of ...oh but there's work to be done so nevermind that.

It doesn't help that shiny and tantalizing objects are sometimes just left out in his path. But... holding them would make him happy, wouldn't they?

Lumenesa calls out, "You got those screws tightened, Stork whistler?" / Her husband smiles, "Just how you like it, sun to my galaxy." He winks at her./ "Don't be a drip," She scoffs, even as her patterns change to a softer hue he knows betrays that she likes his flattery. Dealing with nockers romanticly, he knows, is a matter of reading between the gripes. He wouldn't change her for anything. When they were first dating, she would get on a project, forget he was there, and he worried he was doing that 'fade' his kith sometimes over does, but nope.. she would also ignore a tornado siren if the twister were being so rude as to arrive when she was in the zone. So it wasn't just him. mental note, consider a part of Concordia with fewer twisters he thinks.

There's a burst of quick silver, he's no boggan, but a cantrip now and then helps speed a process.

One of the local trolls admits "Your husband has a deft hand, Mrs. Novak." / "Oh you got no furking idea," The nocker mutters in what is probably supposed to be a whisper, but as she's a nocker is probably a bit louder than that "Just don't praise him too much. Goes right to his head." Despite her warning against praise, it is obvious Lumenesa oozes a bit of pride and pleasure at her husband's utility.

The lady troll blushes a bit. But she understands. Hard work and a good work ethic are admired here.

Lumenesa wonders if they're something she forgot... something about the third panel? Was it the coils... "HEy, babe!" She calls up "Careful on the third panel, I may have put the springs a bit ti..." / There's a BOING sound as the panel reacts to even Mr. Novak's light weight, then launches him into the air with a "Whaaaaa" / Lumenesa's hues shift to frustration and panic, "Damn it, if he dies on me I'll build a device that will let me kill him!" She chases after the now air launched hubby!

"Engine engine number 9 , going down the Chicago line. If the train should jump the track, do you want your money back? Yes, no or maybe so?"

Mr. Novak doesn't land - he bounces, in a hopscotched leap!

"Ooh, there's daddy's girl!" She hears him say as he lands in a haystack for extra cushion. Out of the hay stack, an upright thumb appears "All clear!"

SHe holds up her arms like a referee declaring a goal. "Three points!"

Lumenesa touches her chest and looks at her pooka born off spring, "You are a furking angel and mommy is very grateful you helped your daddy because we both know how much I care about him." Then she moves to the haystack "You furking idjit, you said you were paying attention! And you scared the Maxwell's demon out of me, you selfsih show off!" That, of course, directed towards her husband.

"Stay whelmed, Ma!"

"I'm FINE dear," Karel Novak says soothingly, "Like our daughter says, stay whelmed. It was actually kind of fun."

"You are too short to be an eshu" She grouses "FUN indeed."

But she also hugs her husband after she pulls him out of the hay, hugging him TIGHT. Maybe she's forgotten the right way to be mad at someone? or perhaps she is achieving some odd state of whelmness?

A moment later, there's flapping, and a pigeon lands on Nessa's head.

That gets the bird a pat from one of her parents, and her dad going "It must be so stimulating being her hat."

Neesa grumphs and frees one hand to join in the stroking "You done good, kid."

A contented coo.

A flying tackle as the youngest sibling leaps into the hay to join family!

Possibly disrupting her perch!

SQUAWK!

Flap-flap-flap!

Her six years (and 10 months and one week) old brother beams "What are we hugging about in the hay?"

Pidge disappears into the barn, out of sight.

"Oh just a bit of a pop and hop for your old dad," Mr. Novak tells their youngest one, "Your sister saved my... oh dear. She's gone."

The boy says "She's probably just transforrgorifyizating" The their youngest one says "She has mysterious powers!" He makes "oooo weee ooooo" sounds.

"TURNABOUT!" Amity-the-girl dives into the haystack.

"Ack, Ambush!" Her brother gets his own medicine and of course, THIS is unfair. Consequences? he's too young and cute for consequences!

"Kamikaze. Obviously."

"And this is where I slip out," Neesa grumbles "Before I start sneezing."

"You don't have hay fever, honey," Karel Sr. reminds his wife. / "I can fake it," She says with dry whelmness.

The boy laughs "You guys are fun. Isn't this farm GREAT?" He booms. "I can run around everywhere and there's so much room and not so many people though they are tall... and I even have friends here!"

"Well, it's full of hay and hay is for horses..."

"Glad you like it, kid, but we're not staying here for long so mabye... " Mom IS a nocker, so it's perhaps possible sometimes she misses a clue "... enjoy it while you can."

The centaur's eyes widen "We're... we're not?"

"Novaks gotta move-ak."

"But, I LIKE it here," The boy stamps a hoof, "Our old home was all crowded and the streets had cars and nearly ran me over and I couldn't run there OR on the sidewalk or... I don't want to leave! "

A low warble.

"There's lots and lots of places. And cars and parks and shops and fountains are nice too!"

"it SUCKS!" The boy yells!/ "Egon Watt Novak," Karel says to his son in a tone so soft and firm it catches folks off guard when he uses it, "That is enough yelling. THANK you, very much. Are we clear?"

Egon mumbles something and lowers his head, his shock at DAD being the heavy taking the wind out of his tantrum.

(Perception plus Empathy for Amity... that is, best guess, throw some dice at the wall etc ) 🙂
