Despite being rescued together, Gadgette (the nocker) and Gayte (the Eshu) were the only ones who knew each other well out of the four childlings... or really, at all. The sisters were twins, after all, identical in mortal shells though their meins showed their differences. Of African American persuasion, they stand out for more than one reason here in a farmhold. While Zara gets a chance to decompress over tea, the childlings are tended to in another room... but of course, she can snoop on them at anytime and learns much after. Gadgette , when speaking to the Mountain, is openly FURIOUS about the Countess' edicts "You can't hinder research into the field of Chimerica Thermal Dynamics! Cold, Hot, those are like two very important forces in Science and Arts!"

Emmit nods "And we've a right to the magic as much as any noble, I do dare say."

"I don't DARE say," Gadgette snarls in all her childling fury, "I DOUBLE Dare Say it!"

Other childlings GASP, for to Double Dare say it is srs bizness

"Sister is better at such magics than I," Gayte admits, "But there is a story here. Of oppression, of civil rights, and civil rites and ... maybe a rite cross. But we got into the belly of the best, infiltrated the hold..."

the sluagh boy whispers, pointing out "actually we were captured..."

but either Gayte doesn't hear him, or chooses not to let facts get in the way of a riveting tale, "..we learned her ways, and found some of the commoners who serve her are not as pleased by these restrictions. Though still, they do her bidding. As ever, the foolish minions of Orthodoxy do empower their wardens by handing over the keys of control"

"Attica, Attica!" The pooka girl, who goes by Flurry joins in, then steeples her fingers "My own winter magics will entomb the kingdom until I am given the heart of a royal prince... or maybe hot chocolate. I might release it for hot coco... but no promises"

The sluagh boy winces as Flurry gets a bit loud, but then whispers "it is not met that we born of dreams of fear on cold dark nights, and lessons taught by chilled river banks, should be denied the winter magics. it is not met, sir" he says politely to the Mountain.

"I think" Emmit says after a bit "We can arrange for you kids to get some lessons in that, and more"

All this, and more, Zara probably hears even if not in the same room.. She notes the sluagh boy has not yet given a name. Or perhaps no one has thought to ask.

Meanwhile, Tea is served to Zara and Earl and Clem is being... practical "Can't return them to their mortal families that are in the same County as the lady. Gonna be tricky there"

To be fair- she didn't tell the children her name, either.

"Can't return them yet, nay. Tis regrettable. Pray, forgive, the pooka had already been dictumed to comply. I could not leave them there."

"For a witch with a sinister rep, you do have a soft heart there," Clem says to her friend, then adds "To be fair, can't blame you. Right of Rescue could even be said to play a factor. What do you make of the four? Brief though your time was"

"The pooka has a story, and hers shall be the most difficult to pry out."

"The twins will bounce back well, they support each other. The nocker is hot headed, but, well..." Eloquent shrug. "I half expect Caspian to blow in any day now. That would see those two safe, for a time."

"Knowing Caspian, that's just about right. He could certainly show Gayte some roads. And Gadgette? If that's her name... would likely come along. Nockers sometimes get bored here at the farm, more's the pity" SHe smiles 'Though Mara certainly left some marks." Then she ponders "We'll work with the pooka gal, of course. But what of the boy? Sluagh don't open up easy save to other sluagh"

Zara pointedly raises an eyebrow, and takes a sip of tea.

Clem looks at Earl, and raises her own brow ("She's YOUR Wife/Trueheart")

Earl smirks and sips his own tea, but offers little help.

"mmph" Clem notes this, then goes on "Well, our other sluagh ally" meaning Earl's father, "is out, but if he shows up maybe he could take the boy under his wing, get some more details"

Clem gets a quiet Look. But a noncommittal "Aye, tis so," is all she says.

Clem catches the look, and says "Okay. Am I overstepping somewhere, Zara? I've been a bit swamped of late with winter rescues in other areas and portents by the mountain and so on.. . so if I'm being rude to sluagh sensiblities, you'll have to hit me with a 2 by 4 on it...and I'd get the chance to apologize"

"There is no need to apologize, Clementine. But... I shall consider the boy my responsibility, nu? We are kin."

"Ah" clem says "Calling dibs I understand and you did rescue him on top of that. Should have thought of that. " She admits "Need to get some proper sleep when I can."

"That you do. You work too hard - art thou eating enough? Didst thou get the matzoh ball soup from my mother?"

"You sound like Buck" She mmphs "He may SEEM a big ole amiable centaur of sweet disposition but he can get down right scowly when I need to do without for a bit." The lament may sound hollow from a troll given how protective and fussy THEY get "But yes, we did. It was wonderful. Hearth said she learned a lot from the notes sent with it too. I didn't eat much myself. We had others who needed it more but what I ate was great"

She tuts. "I will make thee a batch."

"Zara," Clem says "While you were out saving the kids, we ended up delivering more food to folks iced in... cleared drive waves, and helped one family get further south. And there is yet more to be done. I don't have time for Mazzoh Ball soup feasts"

"There's ALWAYS time for tea... and, Matzaball soup" Earl says, worried about his favorite cousin, "Clem, you DO look tired. When's the last time you slept?"

Clementine DeBuke, Chieftain and sorceress in her own right, gives Earl a dirty look at the question "Recent enough for me to be walking"

"Feh."

"Thou shalt take care of thyself. My friend shall not set herself alight to keep others warm, nay."

A little huff. (Trolls.)

"UGH, again you sound like Buck" Clem says a bit cranky and her kith's stoic nature worn by weariness

Buck, hearing his name, sticks his head in "You called?" The big fellow arranged some temporary quarters for the childlings and other guests

Earl looks to Buck "Clem seems to think she doesn't need food or sleep. You notice that?"

The Big Centaur snorts "Notice it? It's been my song and dance for two days now. She doesn't sleep more than three hours at a time and the last 'time' was over 15 hours ago. As for eating, she should be starving but noooo"

"Buck" Clem fusses at her love, the man who she has grown to care for, adore, and ponder a future with more so than any other... and now wants to bounce something solid off his head "We don't need to air my dirty laundry and trouble no one"

Another Look.

Clem squirms just a bit

"They're friends, Clem, well as family" Buck says "And trolls maybe stoic, but we centaurs tend to speak our mind when we're up to here with it. " He looks to Zara "Pardon the blunt manners, Miss Zara, but I can only abide her neglecting herself so much. I'd be right grateful if you helped her out and talked some sense into her. She's paying me no nevermind at all"

An elegant arched eyebrow. (He's right, you know.)

Clem tries for a troll scowl, but there's a touch of pout to it ("I know. I know.")

Earl says "let me guess. Murray is busy with defense and heavy lifting. Poor Kourtney, New Hearth and all, is swamped, and whe nshe does talk gets the nod and ignore, and she's too new to realize it. And Emmit? Well, he just got a new cause of teaching winter arts and the like to distract him?" He asks Buck

"That's the meat of it" Buck would chuckle but he's past the humor of it. "She's even gotten to getting me out of the way because she knows I fuss. You DeBukes are so stubborn you'd lean into an oncoming wave at the beach and expect IT to break"

"Feh!" Zara sets down her cup. "Pardon my abrupt departure. I am going to the kitchen."

Buck smiles "Pardoned. And thanks."

Clem makes a warning look to Buck ("Remember that Sex you USED to enjoy?")
