Mara might notice someone is hauling a harvester on a trailer, using his bare hands. This is not unhdeard of, it's a place full of trolls, but the harvester isn't a DeBuke one. They don't have that sort of thing.

Why haul it, even then? True, the dreaming doesn't much like internal combustion.... but she's had her share of luck with it...

He sets it down. She recognizes him now, Cadman of Thyle.

"Well," he glares at it, "Let's tear you apart for scrap" A grunt.

"Scrap for what?"

He turns, then looks surprised "Oh, you're ah.. Mara yes? I knew one of you was a nocker but I am not sure about the name"

"Yeah, I'm Mara. Only nocker DeBuke there is. Yougottaproblem, bub?"

Cadman grins "I am Cadman of Thyle, warrior poet, Storm of the Worldshield, and of ancient blood...and I have no problem with you but I do admire your fire. To answer your first question? Because apparently it is defective. I won it in a game of chance, tried to offer it to your Chief as a gift, and she is.. unfortunately, less than impressed" He shrugs "Machineray I don't know much about. Thyle is an island in the Dreaming with little like this. Though I did see a steam powered nocker made ship once."

"Well, then how do you know it can't be furkin' fixed? Put those muscles t'use and let's haul that lemon to the garage."

"I know because CLEM told me ..also apparently your clan here takes pride in doing things the old fashioned way. I'm almost surprised they use a tractor" but he hefts it up "You want this? You goti t. Clem thought it would be worth something for the scrap metal. But if you have a better plan? One that will please her, let's hear it. In fact, I would consider it a challenge to issue to you."

"Harrumph. They take pride in doing stuff the SAME way."

"Oh, we've done this for sixty years, it's good enough." Massive eye roll.

"Well, it's more advanced than what we have on Thyle"

"Thyle sounds lousy."

"Mmph. If you were a troll you might be more impressed by it" He sets things down in the garage "It has it's glories, but it has had flaws"

"That's one reason I'm here. The new Chief has said Thyle needs to have at least a few eyes in this world."

"Well, I dunno how much the Farm is The World,"

"Clem, she goes lots of places, but most DeBukes just stay here."

"Tell me more of Clementine if you would?" He asks

"Clem? She's okay. Works hard."

"Works ALL the time."

"But y'know, that's the DeBuke way and we're troll and that's duty puff huff puff."

"She's trying real hard to be a good Chieftain, but she'll never make the real fussnuts happy. They'd bitch about Abe Lincoln!"

"Lincoln some other suitor I should worry about?" A frown

"Dude. LINCOLN."

"Honest Abe. The Great Emancipator. The Illinois Rail Splitter."

"Cadman, Cauldron Raider, Thallian Bane, Shatter of the Skull of Iron" He gestures to himself "I think I could take this Abe guy"

"Abe Lincoln was the greatest American troll that ever lived!"

"He was President of the US, and freed the slaves. He was assassinated."

"Oh freeing thralls,, yeah we finally did that too. And WE lived." he says

"If YOU keep slaves and free'm, that's pretty lousy still. Lincoln didn't have slaves, there was a whole war to free them in the south. Jeez, didn't you learn nuthin' in school?"

"I was in the dreaming, I'm lucky to know what a tractor is" he reminds her "So... Linkhan was a troll. Does Clem admire this Linkhan?"

"Sure she does."

"Who doesn't? Nazis, maybe."

"Nazis I know about" he admits "Saw a show. Nasty bastards. Sad lesson in their way we could have used. Thyle came very close to becoming that. "A scowl " Not proud of that. Dims our glory."

"Fewmets yeah. Should be ashamed. Nazis are cack."

"Oh, the Klan is too. We got some white hoods round here, redneck trash - they know better'n come near the Farm, of course, we'd kick their ass."

"So if I want a foe that Clem will be pleased to see reduced, I should deal with Nazis and ..this CLan? Which Clan?"

"The Ku Klux one. KKK. They think they're 'genetically superior white folks,' except they're all, like, inbred MAGA-hats with not enough teeth."

"Even on Thyle at our worst we didn't judge on skin color," He snorts "Stupidity."

"Well, yeah."

"They used to string up black folk, set fire to crosses, all kinds of dreck. Nowadays, they rant on the internet and go on TV."

"And I get it, that sounds like it's better? Except, like, what they're doing instead is using it to get other people all cucked up about race and religion and anybody that's different so they go shooting up churches and yoga studios."

"Thank you," he says after a bit

He seems inspired.

"Thanks? Fer what?"

"Giving me an idea on how to honorably prove my worth as a warrior , please clem, and make a way through this world at the same time. The harvester, you can make use of i t where I cannot?"

"Oh, I bet I can get this lousy bucket of bolts belching again."

"And that will help the farm?" Cadman grins "You're seeking glory too, of a sort yes? May I give you some advice?"
