"I'm sorry I told you" Emmit says "Look, there's not much we can do about it. Clem's chief, we support her."

"She's with a baroness, helping her? YOU support that?"

"Not quite, but a means to an end? yes. She's not bending knee to the woman" Emmit reminds "And this Paler man is a threat to us all"

"A threat to your apprentice, you mean" Agnes hurumphs

"Well, yes" he admits

"Emmiit, you are fiercely loyal to your apprentices, even when they don't deserve it" She says

HIs face falls "I am aware of that ..mistake, but this is Zara, and you like her too"

"Like is good, but it's not always enough reason to" she reminds

"Ever practical, ever pragmatic. Agnes, don't you remember when we were wilders and did what our heart directed?" He asks

"You mean like run off with the man you love instead of doing your duty?" She asks archly "No Emmit, I don't believe anyone gets to tell me NOW about following my heart"

Emmit lowers his head "Fair point. But I'll still vote Clem's way if pressed"

"Well, that's that then. I just hope we don't lose Earl and end up at war again with the Balor" The Hearth humphs

"I'll say a few prayers" He walks off

Agnes sighs and looks at the dough wondering what omens SHE might read in them "So will I."
