"Well, sure. But what if you had a better thresher or sharer plow or tried a different fertilizer? Work hard AND smart?"

"Well, i can teach you about what i know of smthing if you like..the other things I don't know" he says

"Well, neither do I... yet."

A bit of a twinkle in his eye "Yet, eh? Mmm okay, Tlak to the Chief, maybe she'll let your ideas get a chance. She's already shaken everything up anyway. Unseelie wilders being out and about since Miss Zara got the go ahead... Scathach tolerated.. sure they helped rescue us... and noble holds, even if they are lodges, as friends. Darn strange times"

"Well, I'm still a DeBuke!"

"Concordian by Birth, Iowan by the grace of a kindly Da'an" He nods

"Darn tootin'."

"Now, for a bowie..." HE offers

"Yeah?" She's an eager student, well up until they are called in for dinner.

Where did the time go? Soon the bell for dinner, first shift is going... "And that means you, Mara!"

"Aw yeah, french fries! Hey, can I come by tomorrow?"

"Sure sure... I might put you towork, but sure" He shrugs

"Baller! Seeya!" She bolts off. A dream dance, a jet-tractor and some smithing build up an appetite!

Uncle Walworth shakes his head and cleans up. Mmmph. So many changes, it's enough to make a graybeard dizzy.

The porkchops are perfect...

and even Mara gets some blank looks from some of her kinfolk as she goes on about the beauty of metal work, or the way she had to cross wire Nutty? Well, that's fine

Part of her knows this is a slightly different welcome from the ones she's witnessed from the kinain side... but the rest of her is riding high on the excitement of her crafting, of suddenly seeing the world as an open range of possibility.
