"Nothing wrong with Kinian" Her dad joins them "GOod thing your mom thought so"

"Oh, I know, I figured I wasn't gonna... who pops at six-furkin'-teen?"

"You were in the running for the longest wait" Clem agrees

"Well, one record missed... I'll find some OTHER one to break, wait and see..."

"As long as you're healthy and happy" Her dad says "I guess we could use a good mechanic besides Bix"

"Hmph. Bix was an adequate mechanic..."

A few chuckles all around

"Oh, cocktrices, am I gonna have to take lessons with the little kids?"

Hearth Agnes enters the scene, folks make a clearing for her. Folks respect Clem as Chief, but it wasn't taht long ago Agnes held the title, and she's been Hearth as long as anyone can recall.

"Hearth! Look at Old Nutty! I made it better!"

Clem says "We all take lessons. Heck I still take lessons.."She turns to see Hearth Agnes, "It would appear the DeBukes have diversified a bit more."

"Hard to miss," Agnes says looking over at Old Nutty "I wouldn't know where to begin using that thing. Might take off and I'm too old for flight" She waves "But does sure look better than that bucket of bolts it was. NO doubt. Good work, Mara"

"Now," Clem says "You understand, since this is your design we may have to come back to you for tips or if we need anything explained on her?" The chief takes the Hearth's lesson to heart. Nockers, she remembers, love praise for their craft

And besides, the darn thing IS better, even if weird. Looks brand new

"Oh, sure.. sure... "

"Fixing it just came to me, you know? I think it might need some refinement..."

"If it ain't broke anymore, don't see the need" Agnes says

Clem ponders "Well, she's got to explore herself and her new kith., Maybe we should switch some duties for Mara, and let her tinker on somethings that aren't working. Not like she can make them worse."

"Hmph! Don't see the need? That's how it gets so bad to start with... and maybe if it got an automatic transmission..."

"How about the Dishwasher?" Clem suggests/ "I never use that thing anyway" Agnes fusses/"Oh yes, please the dishwasher" A wilder kinian girl says/other youth, not as convinced hand washing is THAT needed to build character join in

"Hey now... I'm not just some Mr. Fix-it..."

"Course not," Agnes says "You're a lady . You're Miss Fix it."

A few chuckles at that.

Clem adds, "Now you know how it goes around here, Mara. We all get put to work where we're strongest"

She scowls. "Right..."

"that said, " Clem adds "I think we can be flexible on waht you'd like to work with first. We've got other things. Ol.. well, New Nutty you know... Dishwasher seems like a good one, but we also have that old still, the piano is missing a few keys, and if you prefer we could try the old pick up. Be nice to have it back "

Emmit comes out puffing his pipe "Or we could offer her parts from each and tell her do what she wants"

"..Mountain..."

"Mara" He smiles "You might be the tallest nocker I've seen in awhile"

"I'm still a DeBuke!" Stubborn and proud.

"Only a fool would say otherwise" Clem says and gives a look to any who might be tempted to take their gossip in that direction

"Agreed" The mountain says

"Well, she'll probably want some food soon" Agnes says "Every DeBuke ever been through the Dream Dance ended up wanting something special to eat" that is a custom, you go throug ha chryalis, you get to ask for a specail meal that night

"Really?" Another grin. "Pork chops?"

"Of course" She nods, "You want it in a particular style?"

"Barbecued?"

"mm.. I'll set it up" The Hearth calls out names of various assistants, those who lean Hearth way. They've got a whole farm to feed after all "There will be green beans, and potatoes.. you want that last mashed, baked, or in fries form?"

"...french fries?"

"Wilders" She says as if that explains it "Fine, mind you it'll be steak fries type, almost wedges. I don't do those skinny little things" mmph

"Baller!"

"This will take some getting used to, but that';s not bad I suppose" She motions for her hearth crew to get going.

Clem looks over at Mara "Okay, any of those ideas on fixing or crafting mentioned appeal?"

"We do really furkin' need the pick-up, and it has been crankier than my dead grandpa's knees..."

Clem nods and ponders, "Tell you what, you fix it for the farm, and the farm will buy you a junker car of your pick for you to fix up too... sounds like more work, I know... but that junker? She'll be yourn"

"Oh, like a real old one? One I could paint up?"

"Well, price tag more than age, but yes. " Clem says "If you salvage our truck, it's only fair you get something of your own"

Clem then says the words that might make Mara want to roll up her sleeves "Now if you can't do it, no shame... "
