Earl seems utterly unfazed.

"Hmmph." She settles down somewhere to go through the classified ads. Oh yeah, she missed a lot of time in the Dreaming.

"You could also check the internet" Jacob says, though he runs his fingers along which ever paper she's not using. It's weird. He thought newsapers just appeared in old TV shows

"Yeah, lotta sh....stuff on that thing. "

"Somethijng to be said for multiple sources" earl says. His eyes drifting towards a trunk in the room

"Got two newspapers...."

"Let me know if you need me to get you more" He says

"Thing is.... gotta get work so... where?" Mumbled.

"What kind of work do you do?" Jacob asks

She seems taken abaack but rallies. "Textiles."

"You guys got encyclopedias? A atlas?"

To Earl.

"Texting? Huh.. " The boy nods

Earl says "Sure, I'll get some... be right back"

"Thanks. An' no. Texiles;fabric.":

"Oohh like clothes" the boy says "Doesn't seem too exciting."

"That's because you haven't seen your mother ride a giant worm made of the stuff like a cowgirl on a rampage" Earl says

"Yet." Muttered.... with a slight blush.

"You made a giant worm of cloth and rode it?" The boy's eyes widen "that " he whispers with energy if not volume, "is cool"

"Yeah." Higher color. "I'll introduce ya sometime."

"Can you make a textile spider?" The boy asks

"Yeah, prolly."

"uhm.. would you?" eyes large

Earl returns with several encyclopedia and an atlas

"Yeah, kid." Her voice gentleing. "I can do that. Gonna take time though."

"Okay., Sluagh have to be patient" quoting someone

"Yeah...." muttered as she dives into the books.

" 'Specially with me."

He nods, and takes a position, and watches her intently.

Books? A tiny golden dragon swoops down and lands on Jacob's shoulder. She peers over him to see the illustrated pages.

He blinks and looks up, "wow. There's a dragon on my shoulder" Confidentially

"But it is one thing to read about dragons and another to meet them. ― Ursula K. Le Guin, A Wizard of Earthsea" Bronte purrs.

"Hey." She greets absently.

"Greetings and salutations!"

He looks along the dragon's scales, "Ursula, like the sea witch?" He says then says "And yes, it's very different to meet them. Uhm.. Salutations. I'm Jacob Xavier Cohen. That's my mom. I also have a sister, but she's not here right now" A glance around

"And in that hole there lived a hobbit." She nods.

"Oh.. Tolkien.. I know his stuff" The boy says

Bronte settles, graceful neck stretched long to peruse. "All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost."

His brow knits "This means something, she's not just saying this" A look to Earl

Earl says "Bronte can ramble, but she also has direction, and like any intelligent dream, has a lot worth saying" The artist scratches Bronte under the chin

“Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.” She leans into the scritch.

Earl sighs sadly

but keeps scritching

"Yes, that's how I got found I think. I wanted a family so bad, but now.. now my sister is acting all grown up..and not in the good way" Jacob says "I want to help her, but I don't know how"

“So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

"But with great power comes great responsilbity" The boy says

She tilts her golden head, trying again. "Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”

"I'm not going to go away just because the road darkens. I want everyone with me on the dark road." Jacob ponders "Does Zara think I'm faithless?"

"Apples." Decisively.

The little dragon seems stumped, so Miriam's comment draws her gaze.
