The Farewell to Summerwalk is delightful, and our heroes enjoy the kitchen... but it is the herb section that catches Emerson's attention.

He finds it, a chimerical herb the folks here are unaware of... Knightshade. This Chimerical herb was cultivated back in the days of the Accordance war and enhanced. The nobles , after they won, sought to destroy it utterly.

But now and then, it pops up

Knightshade, as the name suggests, is deadly to those of knightly rank.

He conceals his immediate interest; presumably planted and displayed, not for sale?

As it is a chimera, the planters may not even know it is there. Theyr'e not enchanted.

It is near more... standard herbs of mortal nature.

He could buy the plant the mortal herbs are in and hope they get the chimerical one as well

That, he will do.

Works fine, fair price for the natural herbs.

He carefully collects up his purchase and continues on to meet up with Callidora, who is browsing.

Callidora was indeed browsing, and says "I know it's lazy, but they really do package the cinnamon for you rather nicely here. Find something?"

(pause)

"Mmm. I believe so, but let's explore it at home."

She nods, and quiets enough until they do just that.

Once they get home she puts things away, "So, cup of coffee or tea?"

"Ooo, tea...." he murmurs absently as he unbags his haul on the kitchen table.

SHe makes it just like he likes it

He has settled in his chair and is gazing at the plant.

She eyes it "That's... what is that? It looks a bit like Knightshade"

"I think.... that is exactly what it is."

"That's... " Her eyes light up "Knighshade, oh I haven't seen that since I was with the Court. I never got to see it work, but I heard about it"

"Will you keep an eye on it while I get a book? I might have something on it."

"I promise it won't end up in your tea while you're away" She winks "Though from what I hear, it wouldn't hurt you anyway. "

He chuckles and bustles upstairs, returning shortly with a tattered old paper-bound book that he is flipping through. "Hmmm... yes, here...." he reads a few scant details.

Indeed, Knightshade hurts nobles... chiefly, KNIGHTS. It takes what happens from Deadly Nightshade of the mortal vareity, and makes it worse. Purely Chimerical, it never the less can trigger harm to the mortal side as well. Knights cannot taste or smell Knightshade, making it a poison of choice back in the day for such. A commonor wine taster might drink it, be fine, then hand it over to a knight... and then? The knight would die.

He reads this aloud to Callidora.

"And they die Chimerically even if they survive mortally. Nice" She admits "VERY nice."

"We could make a pretty penny, with the right connections..... and/or, do a nice amount of damage...." his eye shines with delight.

"Connections would have to be just right. No small time nonsense for a find like this" She admits "As for damage. Mmm, a paramour to a higher noble? It works on non knights too according to your book, as long as they're titled but less effective on them and bigger chance of being noticed. So... best a knight, but not juust ANY knight"

He sighs, and sits back "Ideas to warm the cockles of my heart, to be sure."

"I have no problem with you making sure this gets in the right hands" She nods "Tyrants need nipping now an then and I still believe that"

"Ah me, Dearest, I no longer have the network needed to activate those connections that would work. And I'm not in a position to do damage myself. At best, we might find a broker for this sample."

"One you can trust?" Regarding the broker

"Heavens, no." he chuckles "Or rather, yes.... for a given value of trust. A broker for this sort of thing would keep your trust as long as there was no greater bid for it."

"Mmmph." SHe ponders "Maybe then. I can put out feelers too but they're old"
