Unfortunately for the pooka, the folks who called in for their orders, two mortals, are already walking up too. Peeling out could cost customers.

Stodgepole saunters easily, in no hurry; the mortals can get their food first.

they do, praising the free samples as they get their order

He nods and says "Glad you enjoyed, remember, swallows always taste better with Capistrano"

They laugh, and walk off. CC smirks and whispers to Emerson "So, we've been 'pranked' for a profit"

"So it -seems-." he says with emphasis, and approaches. "Good evening." with a touch of malevolence.

The pooka looks.. nervous "Well, helloooo there , good morning to you" he says despite the fact it is not morning, "What can I get you and this charming young lady with you?"

"Answers." he says, with an eyebrow "You are putting your delicate little birdie toes into my patch, friend. Now, I don't mind a little outside competition. Fair enough. But keep it -outside.- Unless you have permission and we have an agreement."

"Sir" He looks offended, "Why would you think that I would be doing such a thing? HOW could you think of me? This,... this smacks of profiling against Spainsh Americans"

CC calls the number to make an order, and a light goes off in the truck and a beep sound kicks in.

"Because we got your number and URL on the packages left inside?" CC points out

"Could be coincidence" He protests, but a bit lamely

"Friend.... and you -do- want us to be friends..... If you'd like that permission, and an agreement, feel free to contact me." he flips one of his cards on the counter "Otherwise... keep your very tasty wares to yourself."

He gulps "Yes sir... I want to be your bestie... and I guess I shouldn['t have taken that sucker bet... bad for my health" he takes the card

"Bet?"

"Uhm... you know, I speak Spanish" he says in very American English "So this may lose something in translation. Some guy, he was drunk, at furry nost? Nice guy...anyway, he dared me... said I'd never try that stuff at the Emberclub.. though he'd like to see me try. WELL.. I got to thinking about it, and...I figured why not? Your place has a great rep, I figured if my food was a hit in there, I could do a little crowing... though I'm only 1/8th crow on my mother's side"

"Mm. What did this guy look like?"

"Like a bull moose with a nice smile" he answers

"Was he a pooka too?" CC inquires

"Si, totally a pooka, and not a bit like yourself, lovely lady" he tells CC

"Hm. Well, you'd hardly find someone like that at the abandoned warehouse." dryly.

CC smiles "I admire the flattery, but I'm curious as to this person's name"

"Nero... or maybe Julius" He says "Poor bastard is on the outs with his wife and taking it hard"

The boggan's eyes narrow. "Nnnnooooooo......" suspicious, skeptical.

CC looks alarmed "Pardon me, but... could the fellow's name be Caesar?" Then she says low to Emerson "I haven't checked on them in the last few days. You don't think?"

"Caligula" but he nods

"And -this- is his cry for help???" disbelieving.

"If he was REALLY drunk? Maybe" His mother ssays then eyes the pooka "If this is some plot to use my son against us, I will destroy you, I will depopulate your hopes, and feast on your sorrow like a glutton at a table. Mmkay?" She smiles REALLY big

The pooka's eyes widen, already intimidated by Emerson he mutters "Crystal as clear, ms."

Stodgepole leans in. "And I will help her." he promises, low.

The poor fellow shivers and looks ready to molt "Roger dodger"

"Contact me if you want that agreement." he nods sharply and offers his arm to Callidora.

The swallow gulps "Thank you for not leaving me in a pig lime hybrid pit" But he does look at the card again, considering earnestly.

CC takes Emerson's arm, and off they walk. Once a bit further she mutters "Emerson... i may need those boggan skills of yours." Only NOW does she show worry

"Work done quickly?" puzzled.

She hip bumps him "Social reading. April and Caesar having a falling out? I trust your gift."

"I suspect even an elf would sense something is wrong." dryly.

She makes a face "Maybe, but I still... Caesar sometimes tells me what he thinks I WANT To hear."

"Yes, but you know when he does it." William points out.

"Well, yes" she says then adds "I also need you to keep me from exploding on him. What could he have done ? "

"How do you mean?"

"I just.. APril is tolerant that he has other lovers. She is tolerent that he goes out on the wrestling circuit for weeks. She's one of the most... patient young women I know. If she's actually that angry at him... or maybe she did something to anger him?" Unsure and not liking that

"Perhaps you should speak with her first? Offer to visit with children, use that as a cover?"

"You're probably right" She admits begrudgingly "Honestly I... I thought I was more on top of things than this."

He stops, turns her to him "Dearest, it's not your job to be on top of anything. Except me." he allows "They are, despite being your children, adults. Yes, you'll always be connected.... but they are not your responsibility."

She actually smiles a bit at the 'except me' comment, then sighs "I resent that you're right. But thank you anyway."
