"Well, she is the closest thing to a daughter in law I'm going to get"

They eat for a moment, sip wine.... then he asks "Are you... interested in that sort of traditional structure? Family structure?"

A tilt of her head then really thinks it over

"I am a very selfish woman. I want to pick and choose what I love best from various sources. Yes. SOmetimes. I definitely like being a grandma. But true son of adam traditional? Not likely possible with my lifestyle, or Caesars. I do sometimes wish he'd marry April though... open marriage it would have to be. Oath of satyr hearts?"

William nods, and moves some food around. "But that isn't something you're interested in." he asks.

A cautious look, then a realization "Wait, Emerson, are you considering proposing to me?"

He looks up. "I am asking a question, yes, but not that one."

"Then let'ss say I have an interest, but not a need" She shrugs "Maybe it's just a recurring fancy"

"That is .... good to know."

"Callidora.... you called me Emerson."

"You do use it a lot" She kisses his cheek

"Mm." he nods, and eats.

"This is delicious, Dearest."

"Thank you" She says "And Bill, do you want things set up more traditionally for us?"

"William, please." with a smile "Do you?"

"I thought i just answered that?" A bit amused now "I have an interest"

"So now, your turn"

"I have considered the idea." he admits.

her voice softens "So have I. And.. not unfondly"

"I see." he moves food around his plate "Have I been.... tardy?"

"Actions speak louder than words" She puts a hand on his shoulder "You've been there at my worst, and i don't mean that in an entitled way like it's something you SHOULD have to put up with. I mean when I realized how utterly unjust I was to you, you endured it and let me apologize and forgave. You've not only been there at my best. You've been a reason for my joy and being so more than once. You're my biggest supporter, my guide when I need one, and both the object and giver of devotion and love. You're a better husband than most men who have the title"

He takes her hand from his shoulder, holding it. "Thank you."
"But."
"Have I been tardy?"

"Who am I to set the schedule?" She smiles

"Fair enough." he agrees, and releases her hand so she can eat if she wishes to; he own hand is still available.

She takes his "Let me know if you are ever ready though?"

He looks her dead in the eyes. "Dearest, if we do decide it is time and I do propose marriage of any sort to you... you will not need to ask if I am doing so." he promises.

Her eyes get very large, then ...quite soft "Oh" and she...blushes

He nods, and enjoys the meal and the wine, with a squeeze of her hand.

And they eat together, one handed. She looks quite thoughtful with a smile on her face

He does not miss observing this.

And yes, the lamb is amazing
