The carnage is everywhere, the shattered body broken and smeared at the scene of the crime.

"oh no" CC looks down at the red stains on the kitchen floor

She bends down to see if the body can be healed, restored, cleaned

but no... no, one life is all some have

The Strawberry frosting (With strawberry slices) Red velvet cake is dead, dropped, and smashed itself entirely on the once clean kitchen floor

"ARGH!" She declares "Why do the gods of Kitchen and Table turn against me???!!"

The front door rattles as William comes home.

"Oh.." in a panic, she veils the cake

He whistles as he sheds and hangs up his coat, making his way to the kitchen. "Callidora?" He has a white paper bag with him.

"Hey honey" She says hoping he doesn't notice it

"Oh what's in the bag?"

"I stopped at that bakery for the treats you like."

He puts them on the kitchen table and stretches up to kiss her.

And at this point, she herself forgets things, kissing him happily...

and then both step into the cake and slurred cake mix ... and may have to fight to keep their balance

"What the.....?!?!?!" he looks down.

red smears... it looks like carnage, carnage of a cullinary kind!

"Dearest, whatever happened here??"

"I oh.." She bushes "I uhm.. dropped my strawberry delight red velvet cake" A sigh "Flat on it's poor top"

Her hooves are now holding balance, barely in the mess

"Oh no, a strawberry delight??" He mourns; she knows how much he likes them. "What a pity!"

He carefully steps out of the mess, and sits to take his shoes off.

"I know. I wanted to treat you. I'm sorry" She sighs and fusses, "I Just .. oh I don't know, butter fingers . "

A chuckle as he stands. "Let's get this cleaned up. -You- are a treat for me, you know. Cake is nice, but you are so much nicer."

"Yes, but well, I just thought I'd indulge in my baking skills and surprise you. Instead I surprised you with a crime scene, and that crime? Cakeicide" She gets out the cleaning supplies

He helps her clean it up, making the floor sparkle.

"It was an accident, Callidora." amused.

"I know I know, but you, my dear, are so darn good in the kitchen I feel like an amateur at times."A wink "Though I suspect my cooking skills did cach your eye when we first met"

"Oh, I promise you, yes." he watches her a moment, bemused. "You made lasagna and garlic bread. Dessert was a strawberry shortcake."

A smile "I do tend to think of strawberries when I think of you" She admits "Partly because I do consider them a sinful indulgence I suppose"

Clean up complete, he moves to take her in his arms. "Strawberries, sinful? Nonsense." he chides "I shall buy a field of them for you."

"Oh now, we have farm folk to pinch for that now" but she is gladly taken "How hungry are you?"

"Oh, moderately. Do you wish to cook?"

"I was thinking since I have killed a cake, but you brought me sweets, maybe we could work on something savory together for a small main course?"

"Delightful, let's do just that." He rummages around for ingredients.

They are well stocked. Some things from the farm have been funneling in regularly

"Here we are....." he sets things out.

"What do you think, roast a chicken?"

"A small bird, yes" She nods "Just the two of us after all. Mmm a good clean roast.." A pause "maybe a few spices?"

"Oh, certainly! Here, you set that up, I'll take a look at the salad."

"Delightful ! ooo with the little crotons? "

"Certainly! We have French bread around, yes?" He finds some and starts preparing croutons. "Pass the olive oil when you have a moment?"

He pops the oven on.

It soon gets passed "Absolutely"

He sets the croutons up in the oven to toast, and puts together the salad.

Meanwhle, the smell of a nice spice rub is coming into play.

"Mmmm....." he appreciates what his nose tells him.

And the two of them soon are working like musiciansin unison, he handling the melody of the salad, while she handles the harmony of the roast chicken

It's a wonderful dance
