Oh, he still grumbles about it, but he doesn't tear down more posters; CC's point was well taken.

And it is the local mercs coming into the CC club that surprise him. Five Changelings... two redcaps, an Eshu a nocker and a troll

They all wear a patch with a raven symbol somewhere on their jackets but most of them avoid the biker vibe

Emerson will let the staff handle them, staying back to watch.

The dynamic is tight, comraderie thrives the two redcap guys snap at each other (sometimes literally) threatening and insulting each ohter but it's obvious they will defend each other to the core. The Eshu is the leader or at least spokesman for the group. The troll woman and nocker guy clearly are lovers.. though one may not want to think of the visuals. They haven't brought obvious weapons in here beyond chimerical knives and swords quite nicely peace tied, but there is the smell of gun oil on them, particularly the nocker ... and he suspects the nocker's backpack could have something interesting in it

"Order something already" the nocker says to his true heart "You skipped a meal."

"I didn't skip. I had a salad" She reminds rolling her eyes

"That's skipping. " the nocker snorts , "You're a big girl, you need more than greens. I worry about you."

"I'll keep my strength up, enough to cart you around anyway" She dimples

"Bullshit.." One redcap is telling another.

"Nope. I coudl do it. If you wanted to take out the secret service.. just saying... look at this picture... sure, they've got good placing... but see that guy? He's a lefty... and they've got him positioned wrong for a southpaw. It's a gap."

"You think," the other one sneers, "A guy who is left handed has never had to deal with right hand shinaggens before? Bullshit" then he adds "Besides, that buys you 10 seconds tops."

"Ten seconds is everything.. by the time he's adjusted...." And the other guy explains how yeah, you could totally kill a secret service squad

The waitress near them looks a bit alarmed. The Eshu seeing this glances over "Purely hypothetical. Don't mind them. Last week they made plans to kill the Batman." A wink

At that she smiles and relaxes

The boggan sees to it that menus are delivered to the table.

They sort over their orders, and once fewer unehcnated ears are around they talk

"I don't know man," One redcap says "Helping a silver tree hunt down a snake? Are they even hiring for that?"

"They will be after I'm done talking to them" The Eshu says "This is how the game is played. "

"usually with commoners as pawns" The nocker grouses

"Now dumpling" the troll says to her love, "Your blood pressure always goes up when you get started"

"The game" The Eshu says "Is played thus.. houses will send agents, the Balor will release threats and monsters if they are cuatious doing it themselves. Both trods and streets. Now trods, well, we're more limited there in some ways, but on the streets of Fort davis? That's where we come in handy. We keep an eye out for Balor agents, and take them out, or capture them as the contract demands. That place is rumored to be rich in dross AND dreamers.. gentlemen, we can make bank with this lady as a patron pro tem"

"Ahem" The troll says

"And lady too, of course" The Eshu smiles

"Thank you" She nods, then adds "It seems like a good set up but what if the balor offer more? "

"Or," the second cap says "or if she doesnt' go for it?"

The Eshu says "She's the one with the dross reserves and more right now.. but if she has any sense at all, she'll realize that leaving us OPEN to hire onto balor isn't in her interest. She might pay us a modest fee just to leave it be."

The caps exchange looks, then look back at him one saying "We're itching for some fucking action here. You sure?"

"Action can always be found, friend" The Eshu assures him, "We can spring board from Fort Davis down to Feathered Serpent for some work. IF we have to. You know how desperate they get"

"Yeah" Says one cap to the other who asked "You don't trust he's got this?" nevermind he too has his doubts.

"Shaddup, you had doubts too"

"We better order soon" the troll reminds, like a den mother

"We will, if you order protein" Her nocker bullies

"Fine fine.. Ooo a Fish and Chips kind of set up today. Very British" She says

The Eshu chuckles "yes, that's what the English are known for.. cooking."

A few chuckles

and they quiet and consider their menus

Emerson goes to wait in the kitchen for the order to come in.

And it does

The lady has fish and chips anyway

He motions for it, scanning it over.

"The tall blonde lady; what did she order?" he asks the server.

"Fish and chips" A nod

"Double portion of the fish." He orders, looking the rest of the order over.

A nod

The redcaps have steaks, one well done, one rare.

And the eshu and nocker?

The nocker wants spaghetti.

And the Eshu? Oh he's trying the Morrocco medly

He nods to himself and hands the order over to the chef.
