it's possible her exposure to American media is.. behind the times

Nessa checks her wallet... assesses.. and orders, "Can we please have a Big Mac meal with fries, a Filet-o-Fish sandwich, a large coke, a chocolate shake, an oreo Blizzard, and an apple pie?" Counting, and then - "Actually, nix the blizzard, just the rest." A smile to Zahab.

Zahab shakes her head "I can take just the song bit by bit over the days. Big Max and Frieds today.. you should be snowed stormed"

"Ah.... sorry, one minute." She says to the clerk, and thinks for a moment. "Okay, got it. Make it a Big Mac, super sized..." A grin to Zahab, "Coke, and two small oreo blizzards."

Zahab gives two thumbs up, then makes the thumbs bob as if they were nnodding

"Sure." The employee says

Paying the clerk, she moves to one side, careful not to knock over anything, so she's not blocking the counter. "Did you want to eat here, or go for a walk around town?"

"She who buys picks, as the old afhaistan saying goes" Zahab nods "that phrase is like a thousand years old"

"Then we can go for a walk with our ice cream after you finish your big mac."

She finds a booth towards the back and slides in, not thinking too hard about how her legs fold. "I can tell you about the town a bit."

Zahab savors the food.. making MMMM sounnds. Mouthfull she nods at the idea of telling her about the townn

Nessa watches her eat, at one point she considers stealing a fry, but the pointy teeth are a little discouraging, though she laughs to herself.

"Oh, nothing. Just a funny thought." And tells Zahab about the library and museum... moving on as she looks bored to mention the mall that is opening back up, the YMCA with the public pool, the park where the food trucks park... and that's.. about it...

"Sorry it's not a more exciting town. Lots of cool nature trails though, hiking, if you're into that?"

"Oh! There's an observatory, too!"

Zahab looks at the centaur like she's mad, "Not exciting? America? Not exciting? Your POOR people are Fat. You have too many channels to pick from. You have libraries and museums annd no one is telling you how girls shouldn't go in there or they'll come out defiled. I can pray to the West here, and pray in the direction of Hollywood like other Americans, OR go East to Mecca, or NNorth East to the Apple Grande. Borinng? I can do more, how can I be bored? USA!"

"I just meant, if you were looking for the big city experience... " She blushes a bit. "I didn't mean to excuse the privilege we have here. I've never been out of this area myself. I mean, we're closer to Chihuahua than to El Paso or San Antonio." Naming the next biggest cities around.

"the little yappy dog?"

A laugh, "No.. Hee-hua-hua..." She pronounces with a Spanish accent. "That's Mexico, we're pretty close to the border here."

"Oh I've heard of Mexico, they'rr here to steal the jobs you donn't want" A nod somberly

"I'm not sure if you mean that, but that's not a very nice thing to say. Even if it is true that immigrants work a lot of jobs that otherwise would be hard to fill. The ones I've met from Mexico are nice. There's a lady who cleans the library, I think she's read nearly every book they have in Spanish, and is working on the harder ones in English, too." A smile, and she nods to Zahab. "You're an immigrant now, too, aren't you?"

Zahab's ears drop a bit annd her tail goes down "I .. uhm.. I did't mean with the .. the ..oh poop"

"Want to try my Blizzard?" She offers with a grin. "I think they gave us an oreo and a reeses one by mistake. But it's good!"

She smiles annd tries a taste "Would you like to stteal a fry or two? They taste better when they're someone elses"

"Ever try... THIS?" She takes a couple fries, and DIPS them into the ice cream.

"ooooo... I think you broke three laws ... you rebel" Admiring. And she tries it too

"I like the salty and sweet." She admits.

A smile thenn a thought "i'm sorry what I said aboutt the Canandianns...I.. it's just...I was thinking how nno one wants refugees of any sort, until there are jobs they want done. I didn't mean it like..." A sigh "English is not my firstt languagge but if you're part Canadian, I'm sorry. Even if you'e nnot"

"We want refugees." She says, firmly. "I mean, no, it's not that we WANT you to have to be refugees? I mean..." A sigh, and shy smile. "Everyone has trouble saying what they mean sometimes. What -I- mean is we're glad to have you here, and glad to be able to help you."

Zahab beams "I will cheer loudest every time the cowboys make a home run. I promise"

A grin. "Want to walk around a bit?" Now that the sandwih and fries are finished.

She rises and nods "let's hit the road jack"

"Onward!" She trots along and points out the sights of the town she grew up in, making sure she doesn't leave Zahab behind.

Zahab is so damn exctied about every thing. To her, this little town seems to be awash in wonders.

Nessa picks up on the excitement - seeing the town she thought was rather sleepy through the new eyes of the excited pooka. Speaking of which...

"Have you met any of our local pooka yet? Stu's our main kiddo, and then there's Ham at the Observatory, and there's a musician who tells me his name is something different every time I ask, so I'm not sure..."

"Ham? no touchie" she says

"He's not for eating." A grin. "He's a monkey... or a chimp? No tail, long fingers."

"AH.. no I have not learned at this Guru's feet. Stu is so cute I want to tickle his foofy fur"

Nessa grins. "Poor thing. I bet when you were his age, you were a bit silly too. All ears, big paws..."

"DAMN, American spy planes are scary" She looks up and blushes

"Me, I convinced my mom I -HAD- to have a perm... only the salons are expensive, so she did it at home...."

"I think I've seen this movie" She says "Did you get arrested by a blonde lawyer?"

"I've never been arrested! I was almost kidnapped once... Irene saved me, you know? The little girl with the silver hair, and normally purple barettes."

"Oh, I saw her! She found my cigarette lighter and returned to me"

"She's good at that. Oh, do you smoke? That's not good for you." She winces a bit at how she sounds scoldy, but... she's not wrong...

"Well, in my defense, it wasn't my lighter until she found it for me" Sheepish look

A blink, and Nessa has to think for a minute. Then she grins. "Just don't set the hold on fire, okay? Or anything outside."

"Okay, but if I see an explosion, I want to walk away from it slowly"

"That's fair." Grin.

"Only in America do you walk from explosions instead of runing. That's how I knew it was great. In America, the good people are safe from explosions, and the heroes shoot faster or can always find cover" A smile

A grin. This teenager isn't so hard to understand after all, despite a few years gap, a culture divide, and pooka speak. "Everybody roots for the cowboys. There's a few big TeeVees at the hold, if you want to watch a game sometime. It's not really my thing, but it always fun to watch."

"It's all about the audience" A smile

"Right? I have fun if the watchers have fun. My mom tends to shout at the teams, but she's enjoying it, really." A grin.
