"Well, we could just dictum them to halt" The squire points out

"Exactly. We don't want to scare them, but they are likely scared. We also don't want them swept up by folk of ill intent."

"We could, but that won't engender trust."

"Oh" Felicty sighs "I suppose Sir Morthwyll is right sometimes. Magic cannot solve everything" But it's clear she wishes it could

"Magic CAN help with this shard, though. I think we should have Dame Otha and Bix look it over, but you and Grete should observe too."

A nod. "Be nice to it, though?"

Sparrow nods. "We want to keep it safe, and then.. well... figure out what to DO with it."

"Grete found it, nobody else would have" Ashlee declares firmly

She nods.

"Witchels know the earth. So I don't want this special thing to be damaged..."

She reaches out to offer it to Sparrow. "You're the Baroness, so it belongs to you."

"I'll have one knight ready to guard it all times if you like, Baroness" Grey says

"At least while we are figuring out what its nature is. And.. well, Grete - it belongs, I think, to the Barony more than me. So we figure it out, and figure out what's best. Just sticking it up like a trophy doesn't seem right..."

"I thought it might feel better by the fire."

"I agree - and having a guard near the fire is smart, anyhow."

A nod "Sir Brynn is available" Grey says

"Excellent."

Yuri barks

"Can I stay, too?" Looking up at the bark!

The bear dog can guard too. He's got training!

"Sure. You and Felicity might need to spend the night... let's get some pillows and blankets gathered up, and - oh! There's that glass punch bowl, we could put the shard in there..."

"Oh, it might reflect pretty in there. It's got a glow even without facets."

Yuri bounds next to the childlings. He is alert! The world needs more lerts!

A pat for the dog.

"How is he. SO fluffy."

"Yes, Yuri. You can guard, too."

Pepper grins and gathers some thing for the childlings

Ashlee is slowly slipping towards the door

"We never would have found it without Ashlee. She helped LIFT."

"It's okay" Ashlee says "If it's just for Felicty ..pardon, squire felicity and Grete, well.." A shrug of blue shoulders

she was clearly heading towards the door rather than deal with this rejection but it's been outted now, and she must endure it with dignity.

"They need the fire, but that doesn't mean you can't sleep up here, Ashlee."

"I don't wanna be no trouble"

"What trouble?"

"If Ashlee can't stay, we'll go hang out in your room." Standing back up.

"Why... why can't Ashlee stay? There's room for all three of you."

"I Just.. most folks don't want me around because I'm.. I'm..." Ashlee bites her lip

Pepper looks down at the ugly ugly girl, and says "Of course they want you around, you're a troll. You want to kick ass and defend those you care about, and nobody who messes with them will get away with it, you'll knock the crap out of them. Litle Joe tells me you were one troll who remembered what it is to BE a troll. I know I Want you around. Now , you ask Grete and Ibet she'll tell you"

Ashlee looks at Grete, rather than the baroness "you.. you want me to stay?"

A nod! "It's more fun if there is more people. It's like a sleepover. Only... promise not to try to braid my hair." Her short cut does not look conducive to attempts.

"Okay, so. Pillows and blankets. Try to get some sleep, okay?"

"I won't" Ashleee says, tthen smiles at the baroness too "I'll guard them just like Pepper says"

Yuri wags approvingly. These trolls are guardians, they must have Russian Bear Dog Blood!

ANd pillows are se up as are blankets.

Squire Felicity seems.. a bit surprised herself. Not that Ashlee is staying, but that she is having a sleep over, and she admits it "i've.. never had a sleep over"

Grete carefully sets the shard in the punch bowl. "Anyone wanna arm wrestle?"
