Clio says "Are.. are you hiring me? Do I have the job?"

Her left hoof taps with eagerness

"Well, you come by way of good references, your work is lovely... why shouldn't I?"

August glances at Deryn.

"No reason. I mean.. I'm not saying I'm perfect I can do it. I want to do it. I really can" Clio

says with excitment

"Yes, August?"

"There is much to be said for such enthusiasm." August agrees. "I wonder if a trial period might be considered? Clio would have the opportunity to see if Brightwinds is a good fit for her, and you would have the opportunity to see her work in action before a greater commitment is made?"

The door cracks, and Grete moves in - not stealthy, but trying not to tromp in her boots as she sticks to the wall. Eyeing the group of Sidhe and strangers curiously, and a touch apprehensively.

"Oh" Clio's face falls a bit from her hiring possibly being reduced to a trial period

Sparrow considers this.

"I could see the merits of that... well, a few days to see if you like us."

"I suppsoe I just.. I assure you I really do wantt this" Clio says "But, I don't think that will change after a week and.."

"INTRUDER ALERT" Catir whips her sword out and looks about "oh" Seeing Grete

"Hello Grete. I'm interviewing a writer-downer."

"Oh, good." She gives Catir a level look. "I wanted to tell you that Stew found someone." A nod. "But you've been talking forever."

"I was called by the Baroness" Catir says putting her sword away "Stew has added another chldling to our ranks? Excellent"

"That is good news."

She nods, and just hangs back a bit, curious.

Cattir then says "Forgive me, Baron August. It's good to see you again. As you can see, I am now crucial tto the running of childling activities here at Brightwinds? I hope the kids at Earth Runes are okay without me?"

"Many responsibilities, Caitir. We appreciate you."

Catir preens

"Your absence has been noted, Catir, and you are missed." gravely.

"Well, I'll make sure they get my yule gifts" Catir assures

Clio however moves to Grete "Im' Clio. you've been writing things down before now? " She offers her hand "A pleasure to meet another in the job"

"You're the new scribbler? Good, I'm not that good at it. I can write but it takes a long time and I don't like cursive." Offering a hand.

She shakes it. "oh good grip"

Looking to Sparrow. "Lady Sparrow, you can put her on my list if she'll help me with the writing. It's secret, but only from the mortals. Did Miss Hope help find my cards and allowance yet?"

"Hope has been looking. And Madame Chalknails has been helping work out the allowance..."

"My... " A frown. "The Baron had a list that he billed to the Steinhoffs. For my schooling, and tutors, and governesses. I didn't get any, but he gets deposits for it."

"A scribe is like a tutor if she helps me write better. And maybe she can find me more books. With pictures. The good ones with glossy pages that show you the geodes..."

"Who is Chalknails?" Trying not to sound suspicious, but it's a bit of a NAME.

"A sluagh elder."

"Like Reeve Wu.... like the Reeve." A nod.

"And quite good at digging into paperwork, I must say."

A little grin. "That's not digging." Amused at Sparrow's joke.

"Well, not digging, but sluagh are much more slender than witchels."

Thoughtful. "They might be good at getting through narrow passageways."

"Everyone is good at something. You just gotta find what. I guess that's digging, too."

"Sluagh -are- good at getting through narrow passageways. And they have excellent night-vision."

She eyes the spit-curl Liam curiously. "I wish I could see at night. I have to take a lantern."

"Maybe I could find a Nocker to make me goggles..." Thinking.

"Or a head-lamp, like miners have?"

Nod nod!

"Well, maybe something could be worked out for Yule..."

Clio says "I would love to see your old notes"

Digging out a dirt-smudged notepad. "See, I wrote about the things I could remember. And about what I think Stew said, and HERE with the little arrows are what I think he maybe meant.... " A bit of a mess, but pages of it!

August is impressed. "Those... are a lot of notes."

"Grete is very thorough."

"I had pages of things I wrote down to get back at the Baron for, but.... Lady Sparrow took care of that, so I guess I can get rid of those."
