In the Barn aka the Iron Hawk house, Odin moves already feeling chilled despite the fact it is October. There was a time he didn't mind Jersey winter until it actually was Winter. Annoyed, and seeking a warm spot in the house, he moves to leap from the floor to the top of the couch

it was an easy target years ago

But this time, when he leaps, he falls short, his legs not taking him as far, his grace not what it was... he falls short, and hooks not the top but the side.

Odin maybe accused of scratching the furniture later.

Better that for his pride than the truth. The rude presumptive truth.

He's getting old.

He was a grown and 'old man cat' in 2018. It's been six years. Six years of opinions and mouse hunting and matching wits with Lovecraft.... which he'd like to think he won quite often.

(He did not, but it's his memory, he can paint it how he likes)

Odin falls to the floor ...the cold floor. And while it IS on his feet, he sways a bit. Unsteady.

Brown Dog moves to see if he's okay. Odin swats at him, claws retracted, ,but a swat IS coming if the dog doesn't respect Odin's space.

Odin has opinions, and he has his dignity.

There, the oaf has backed off. For now, the cat settles for leaping on a lower part of the couch, the cushions, and he curls up on it, even if it smells of dog. Stupid dog, don't pity me the eye glares, I am still Odin. Still king here.

But even the cushion feels cold, too cold, for this time of year.

The old cat shivers.

And somewhere, a rainbow bridge flickers as if..ready to descend should it be needed, but not yet. Soon perhaps. But not... yet.
