"Just tired." He mutters. "Studying late at night. Morning classes."

"I should be getting back. Dagmar drove, and I don't want to make her late."

"You should get more sleep man" A frown "Curl up in a dusty closet with ear muffs on and zone"

"Yeah yeah." He nods. "At least the girls have been good about not partying in our apartment. Not sure if they're partying anywhere else... at least, maybe Sylvi is, I don't know. None of my business." Which is an odd thing for a sluagh to say, perhaps.

Dirk eyes his adoptive brother, and kens him

He is... fine.

Enough glamour. Not too much.

More worried about the banaltiy "how long since you before a fire? or mused a dreamer?"

"I get to see dead bodies whenever I want." A thin smile. "I'm good."

"Uh huh. I ain't as smart as you, but I knew when a question ain't answered. Find some dreamers into your games or into cutting corpses open and muse em, it'll be the gift that keeps giving" He helps Symon pack "Mom's got this withered casserole for you..okay not a casserole but I can't pronounce it"

He perks up. "Did it have spam in it? And noodles?"

"Yeah" A nod as he recalls "Mom told me I couldn't eat it and bribed me with a burger"

"Heh. Next time, remind her I don't eat as much as you do. She can give you most of it and just save me a little container. Especially since I can't share it by the time it's ready." He finishes packing up. "And I can't store a lot of stuff in the fridge. It will start to smell like death and Sylvi will probably complain."

"Yeah? Huh." A pause and Symon can tell his brother is... thinking

He waits, patiently. The train of thought may be delayed, but it will get there.

"Well, try not to piss em off too much" He nods coming out of it "And on some of your visits find a place by the bale. Don't want some banal ass frat boy freezing you up"

"Heh. I'd like to see them try. I'll give them a nightmare of being put on a mortuary slab alive, and pushed into the freezer... unable to move, but conscious..." He snickers. "Or maybe right into the crematorium. So they hear their own flesh start to sizzle..."

"You sluagh always go for the slow build up. I wouldn't have the patience. Pull the bastard through a dryboard while wearing a mask from your favorite horror movie, calling him by his middle name and play heavy metal in the background as you drag him along the wall laughing , the building about to come down on him"

"Ugh. Try a little subtlety for once."

"BOrrrinnnng" he says then says to his brother "Look, you fade, it pisses mom off. So I got a bit of dross for you while you were away. " he pulls out a small brown bag "Dross inside is yours. It's pretty small"

He accepts the bag and checks inside.

A dozen roaches, who apparently were caught in melted wax and not able to scurry out in time, and the wax hardened, creating a messy net like grave site for them.

A soft huff of laughter. “I only fear danger where I want to fear it.” He whispers, amused.

"Careful, that ain't durable material. About as strong as Peanut Brittle"

"It's a quote from a novella. A short book about a man who turned into a cockroach." He considers, "Well, a beetle. Not technically a cockroach, because he had wings capable of flight, and a hard back carapace..."

"...anyway. Thanks."

"Freaky" he says and shrugs off the thanks

"Move your ass, the girls probably wanna go back"

"Yeah, yeah." He gathers up his clothes - not that many, he tends to wear the same few things, and his tupperware, and heads out. "See you next weekend. Probably."

"See mom and dad at least.. I might have a life" Bluster but not said with harshness

He shrugs, and heads off!

But Symon with food and dross, and maybe a hug he can't escape as mom meets him in the hall... well, he'll be on his way

(Pennons at Teaneck, some time later)

It must be said, Teaneck hosts well! As the members of various baronies of county and beyond came in, they were welcome with bright colors, and offers of rather nice accommodations!

The Rivervale crew found themselves spoiled, as old friends and allies, they found their preferred coffee and other drinks in plenty. Prime spots are offered for RV food displays and crafts areas! Mind you, the Baron still hopes Teaneck will kick Rivervale's ass but he promises he'll be in the joust as well as Doomwind. So the chance to promise a good harvest with the ritual launching him into the air will be possible. While the Joust IS going to be an event all hope for, it's actually later in the day... allowing some other events to shine first!

Archery! Yves DeBuke offers to represent Rivervale as well as his family if the Chief will allow.

Tag Team melee fights, duos against Duos is new! Tig and Lut grin and offer. Though it doesn't have to be JUST them .

Siv proposes "Mom, you and Da should give it a go!"

There are also single melee match.

Which Dagmar joins, in addition to the joust. Connor will have much to do!

One real surprise is the great Childling Paint Balloon frey! Childlings from each barony, each with a signature color based on their barony, allowed to swarm each other over a great course of trees, mounds, and low trenches... throwing balloons of Paint (Washable) at the other kids from other baronies! WHo gets the fewest enemy colors on them wins! Prizes for not just the kids, but the Barony parents in question!

Dagmar won't be the only valer eager to do a single's melee match! Basil has his spear, and the Satyr is eager to show folks he's got the moves! Siv will try her fencing style! And no doubt others

Another new contest surprises people... the Flight Obstacle Course! Be it with Treasure, Shapechange, or Cantrip, folks are allowed to fly through hoops, around high up touch points, etc... and timed for speed as well as judged for agility!

Oooooh! Piper beams up at Jonas. "Pleeeeeaaaaaase?"

She doesn't remember all the details... but she knows he turned her into a bird once, in the Dreaming... "Think of it, I could rep for Goldfinch, literally..."

"Well," Jonas says cautiously "You do realize turning into a bird doesn't mean you'll have as much SKILL at flying as some right?"

"Bring it!" Gerd declares, "Mistress of Wayfare here. THey fear the flash, but I also fly and Dash! The sky will be mine!" She flexes

It would appear Gerd plans to represent RV in this.
