So it is, that Frank enters into King's Convenience store. His brother from another life, Jaymes Ironhawk King works diligently at his humble profession

"Hello Jaymes." He rumbles with the tinkle from the bell above the door.

"Frank, cup of coffee?" He offers. The coffee here isn't bad, by Convenience store standards. Three non changelings are here. An elderly man looking at a fishing magazine and considering buying it, and two teenage girls near the candy aisle

"A little late in the day for me, but thanks. Connor here?"

"His sister came by to take him out for lunch. He maybe back shortly though" A smile "Or buddy might. You need him?"

Frank notices that one girl is ' blocking' for another, while the other is trying to steal candy. She doesn't seem too picky about which. Is this for a cheap thrill or one of those Tock Tick things?

The big man sighs, and looks significantly at Jaymes.

Jaymes nods at Frank and mmphs ("You want to handle this or shall I?") Obviously it will be handled

Frank tilts his head and juts his chin. ("Your house....")

He grunts and instead deals with the older man with the fishing magazine. He rings it , and a cup of coffee up for the fellow, who says "Later, Jaymes. See you next month"

"I'll keep ordering them, Mister Newman" Jaymes assures. During his focus on the old man, the girls double down on the candy theft. Frank can also notice they're recording it on their phone. Idiot girls, collecting evidence against themselves

Frank lifts an eyebrow at Jaymes.

Jaymes taps his fingers "Ladies, the candy will taste better if you buy it honestly instead of playing these games. Please take the candy out of your pockets now and I won't make a fuss and I'll even give you one of them free"

The girl actually who was stealing looks nervous at first. SHe's put the candy away in purse . But sweats a bit

the other however says "Mister, we don't know what you're talking about. Besides, you really going to frisk two innocent young girls? Warning, you try it, we'll catch you on camera"

The other rallies with her friend leading the way "We were just leaving anyway"

Jaymes frowns, "If you like. But call it karma, or what not, selfishness often costs more than it gains"

still tapping lightly. The tune to thunderstruck.

The girls start to walk out..rolling their eyes. When the cantrip goes off, and the smart phone recording overloads and fries in the girl's hand. It falls to the floor

"my phone!" The girl says

Frank pulls out his own and asks. "You want me to call the police, mister?" in a deep rumble.

Jaymes holds up a hand to gesture to wait, then says "Is that's necessary, ladies? Because... while I think the interwebs or wahtever it is might take the side of two teenage girls, I bet the police won't. Return the candy, please and we'll pretend this didn't happen"

Frank lets them see him thumb the number and wait.

"Fine... stupid stunt anyway, my phone was worth a lot more than this... crap" the girl who did the stealing breaks and empties her purse.

The other looks tempted to bolt

but Jaymes takes the candy then, holds up one for them "here, on the house" and puts it back in the purse. It looks like they get to keep 'Sour Grapes' Candy

Embarrassed, the girls flee

Jaymes watches them go. "Not to sound old, but.. Kids these days"

"Mmm." agreement.

"I got a look at her ID, got her name. Think I should call her mother?"

"Mmm. You know other clerks and shopkeepers around?"

"I do" he nods "It's not a cozy community but we do have to talk"

"Tell them. Those girls will try again."

"mmmph" ("Well, darn it. ") Then he nods "Ok. I hope they don't try anything foolish with the food truck. Those guys do not play around"

"I'll keep my ears open."

"Thanks, Frank. " A nod "how are things at the lodge?" Now that it's just them

"Good."

"Brekke and Kerri are still away but the kids are filling in. Strong group."

"mm.." he nods "SOme have come by my store. "

"No problems?"

"The DeBukes are well behaved. Djilas DeBuke is a bit of a skirt chaser but hasn't crossed any lines yet. The girl, Ulaliah? Helped me out with some boxes. The archer, what's his name? Ives ? Yves? He's quiet, and confident"

Frank nods. "If you haven't yet, Vali would be interested in your observations I think."

"I'll offer them then" A nod "It's not my call"

"What's not your call?"

"Who stays and who goes" He says "Gerd told me they were recruiting new trolls?"
