Brekke knocks at the Lees' door, but quietly.

It is late, after all, and she would rather not interact with Dr. Lee.

Anne Marie opens the door

"Chieftain?"

"Come in, come in" She coaxes

"Anne-Marie. May we speak?" Her tone is serious.

"Yes yes... " She guides her in "What's this about?"

Brekke takes a deep breath. "A complicated event happened at the Lodge, but the result of it is...Adam is now a dormant Fiona sidhe." She only pauses a moment before continuing. "Dirk challenged him, and...well, although dormant, his Fiona nature seems to have erupted. He and Dirk fought, and Dirk insulted him when they separated, and...Adam made a reflex insult about Dirk's mother." An eyebrow.

"Oh my, that explains SO much" Anne Marie gets her coffee "you know, I realizee Dirk can be adversarla, but I do wish Adam would stop antagonizing Dirk. And yes, I heard you and have no doubt Dirk challenged him... but GOODNESS.. Dirk can't walk NEAR the boy without getting a sneer"

"Agreed, there is bad feeling between them," Brekke understates. She accepts the coffee with a nod. "But you should know that, after that insult, Dirk is out for blood. I will try to intervene, and Adam has every intention of coming to apologize to you directly...but I want to make sure that it is safe for him to do so. He feels remorse for what he said. I do not think he consciously realized he was talking about you when he said it."

"Probably not" A sigh "Yes, well, I suspect Dirk has vandalized the Thomas' house already. He had a mailbox flag in his teeth when he came home. And it wasn't McGillicuddy's"

"He is here, now? I would like to speak with him."

"I think that's for the best" She says "I'll wake him for this"

"Thank you." Brekke sips her coffee as she waits, brow furrowed.

Dirk comes down a moment later, Scowling..and still dressed. Either he sleeps in his clothes or... wasn't in bed yet

Anne Marie behind him.

"Dirk." Brekke nods. "I am here about what happened earlier. You instigated a conflict in the Lodge. I expect that will not happen again." An eyebrow of it better not. "But Adam gave insult to your mother, and that is also unacceptable. He knows this, and regrets his words. He intends to come and apologize to Anne-Marie directly. I will not allow him to do this if he is walking into an ambush. I ask you to grant him safe passage to make amends to her."

"Look, Gerd wanted a test... so I tested him... and can't I just PUNCH him? He needs it. SO bad... and I mean it..." True??? True. he thinks it's true "one day he's gonna fuck with a redcap meaner than me and that cap will do more than punch him"

A deep breath. "That is worth discussing. But first let him make amends to her. He will resolve matters with you afterwards."

A shift in the shadows - present, but not intruding.

"Fine. He's got 24 hours of I don't touch him" A growl "But only cause you and Anne Marie want it. Otherwise... wouldn't for anyone else"

"Dirk..." A frown "Him OR his family's things"

"Adam's life has just been turned upside-down again. He is under my protection for the moment. Understood?" and that question seems to be directed not just at Dirk but to any other sharp ears that might be listening.

"Yes, Anne Marie" he sighs

And no dissent heard otherwise.

Brekke nods "Twenty-four hours."

Dirk grumbles "Understood, Chief"

Anne Marie says "Boys.. I Know you both care about me" She says "But I don't want anyone hurt for my sake.. MY honor isn't based on the opinions of others. It's what's inside."

Brekke nods and departs, leaving yet another family to talk.

And Anne Marie escorts her assuring Brekke "My boys can be trouble, but they're good trouble."

A slight chuckle. "I do not disagree. Thank you for helping to keep this from escalating."

"Oh thank YOU for heading this off at the pass." She nods and smiles "And I Hope Adam gets his wish all the way.... I know in his heart he's a good sort of trouble too. Though I wish he'd stop pestering Dirk " A pause "I admit to bias."

"I will see what I can do...but it may be that they cannot leave each other be. We shall see. Be well." And she goes.

And Brekke heads out. It is good to know what ever else, Anne Marie understands and is on her side. Gods sent that boggan.

Some boggans are more pleasant than others.

(End scene)

Not long after, Brekke is retracing her steps back towards the Lodge.

It is late at night, and even a fae-blessed girl is still a girl out alone, so she keeps her wits about her and her eyes open. And... that tall figure down the street looks familiar shaped. She turns to step that way, and recognizes the chief's stride. Hesitation, not sure if she was seen, but then calls out, "Ch- uh. Mrs. King?"

"Mm? Ah. Piper." A nod.

"Are you heading home?"

"Actually, no." Clipping up alongside the troll lady. "I was going to go see Adam...."

"Ah." A nod. "If so, I would ask you to bear a message from me. I have spoken to Anne-Marie and Dirk. Dirk has agreed to give Adam a window of safety for twenty-four hours so that Adam may deliver his apology to Anne-Marie. Will you tell him that?"

A frown, concentration though, moreso than at the message. And she repeats it back. "Got it. Um. Is he... okay?"

"Adam is...troubled by the situation, but he is safe.

A sigh. "He has had a complicated year."

Then a look at the little satyr. "Are you okay?"

A moments thought, tapping between one foot to the other. "Okay is hard to define. I'm... thrown for a loop, a little. I'm... jealous of what is either an imaginary friend or a love rival... I'm doubting my worth as a satyr OR as a girlfriend because I am feeling that way... and wishing that you'd have wished him ANYTHING other than a Sidhe... and feeling like a heel for wishing that.... and either the stress or a double-bowl of magic shell has my stomach dancing a rumba to the tune of some death metal, but.... I mean, physically I'm probably fit and fine?" She blurts in a stream of consciousness.

Brekke listens, a bit taken aback by the torrent of thoughts. When Piper pauses for breath, she says, "I think this is all understandable. You, also, have had a very complicated year."

She takes a breath, lets it out, and takes another. "Did you mean what you said... about wanting me to go on a quest with Adam? I mean..." She winces. "Am I the best to try to teach him musing? I have a shitty track record."
