"Yeah." He grins.

"I mean Eden... the snake pooka you're mad at ? her parents are like super religious."

"Oh." Less grinning. "Yeah, well. Amira's fun."

"Did you ask her out? Because I'm not sure she is allowed to date."

"I asked -about- asking her out." He slurps some soda. "And yeah, that's what she said. Parents are way strict. Sam said yes."

"And..." A brow knit

"Wait. SAM went on a date with you?"

Adam nods.

"Did.. Sam call it a date?" Clearly Adam has said something..alien seeming.

"We didn't label it, man, we just went for ice cream."

"Yeah, that's what I'm saying.. if you call it a date, you might not get to go out with her a second time. She's..ah, Sam's not a dater."

"Huh." Adam doesn't object; he thinks about this. "Yeah, ok."

A nod "Also, Dagmar's like... been through some shit. I don't know the details, but .. rough life right? So for all her muscle, she's fragile."

"Yeah, I know about that. I can see it." He nods.

"Cool. See, you're not a jackass like some guys so I feel better about it."

"Thanks?"

"Hey, I wont' say Dagmar and are best friends, but we are friends so.. well, like.. i Wouldn't want Dirk dating her? "

"-I- wouldn't want Dirk dating -anyone.-" firmly "But there you go." A sigh.

"Yeah, of course, he saved your mom?"

"Yeah."

"So... you kind of owe him?"

"I guess."

"That's got to suck" A snort

"Ain't gonna date him, though. "

A laugh

"Good taste there, man"

"Not that -he's- gonna know about!" Adam laughs.

"I hear that"

Adam sighs.

"What's up man? Still feeling down?"

A shrug. "Doesn't matter. Can't do anything, just wait. Be 'patient. '"

"ah.. uhm.. what 'anything' do you want to do?" the satyr looks confused

"Doesn't matter, does it? Gotta a wait for someone to take me on patrol, or enchant me, or.... anything."

"Well, it kind of matters..."

"How?"

"I mean, you say you can't do 'anything' but you wont' say what anything is. How can we fix anything if you can't name it?"

"How'm I supposed to know?" He shifts in his seat. "Is all you guys do school and sports and homework? If that's all you do, how come Sam's teaching me to fight? There's monsters.... you don't go after 'em?"

"Ah, you know for a fact that we do" He says "Dirk? And we have other things. Holidays that are just for us. Parties..."

Adam nods. "Right." He starts the car.

"Well, when I say just for us I mean the enchanted. I mean, my mom enjoys them too" He says "I just... wow. It's like you want us to be more?"

"I mean.. like... I don't know Adam. You want in on things. I ask what, you claim you can't say because you don't know, so I tell you a few things and... what am I doing to piss you off?" Confusion

Adam takes a deep breath, gripping the wheel. The car isn't moving yet. "Not you, Zane. I gotta be patient, right? She said I gotta be patient. Fine. I'll wait for.... you know, whatever. Someone calls me. Meantime, I got school and work and ball. Maybe a girl. I'll wait. S'fine."

"I just wish I could make it better" A shrug "I know what it's like to ..well, let's say I get it more than most kithain would. I've seen how my little sister gets . And I know mom some times wishes."

"Yeah." He stares out the windshield. "You want me to drop you at home?"

"Yeah. sure. If you don't mind? Hey dude. You interested in the next Gloaming? Figure I might as well offer"

'Yeah, I'd like that a lot." Adam says honestly, with a grin. He gets them going to Zane's place, per his directions.

"Cool I'll keep you in the loop" A thumbs up, and he gets out, the door to his house opens...and wow. Mrs. Wayburton opens the door wearing a nice night robe that stil lshows off curves nicely "You're home early, Zane. All okay?"

Adam can't help but look....

"Yeah... yeah... this is Adam. New Guy I told you about" He says
