She starts to reach out her hand. "Fireworks."

He takes hers and squeezes it. “Right?”

"Right." She squeezes back. Her dark eyes flicker, spark and cordite and the fourth-of-july reflected on black glass.

Citrine zips in a spiral pattern, her sparkle lighting up the night sky.

Her head tilts at the spiral pattern, expression shifting to that squinty, out-of-focus face Art has seen before.

He has not let go of her hand.

"A spiral, a star, and sparks..."

"Like a comet."

She drops to her knees, using her free hand to sketch a NEW glyph in the dirt.

Art tries to shuffle back to give her space while still holding her hand. He ends up scuffing the lines a bit, but he holds on!

“That’s not one I remember from the workbooks.”

Citrine swoops down, illuminating it as she hovers.

"No. It's new."

"It's mine."

“It’s beautiful. Do you think the .. Thing will understand?”

"It has to. It's Love."

“Then it will!”

She bobs her head, practically glowing.

“Are you going to combine love with other glyphs, or let it stand alone?”

"This is all we need. I know it."

"I know it."

“What’s next? Still need your workshop, or can we make do with what’s here?”

"I need clay. And fire."

“Fire we can do. I know the recipe!” Cheekily.

“There’s soil and stone here… it was limestone, I think Marigold said?” He looks around, but clearly wouldn’t know schist from sheisse.

"Clay's a sediment. Best bet would be under the water..."

"David might actually be really useful there, if he's willing."

He grins. “We should have Gwen ask him. I think she’s soft on the guy.”

"It wouldn't be refined, but... oh, fardgeknarkles, she's GONE on him, ain't she?"

“She has that look like when there are puppies.”
