Another rumble in the earth - this one not seeming so much a warning, but as a reminder that the ground... stirs.

Gwen mutters "I hear you I hear you, but most of our ideas are getting shot down one way or another"

She again checks her phone to test it

(What is she testing? Just if phone works.. yes, no issues)

(If the signal will reach from inside the cave out to the Barony workshop area so Art can maybe read the book here to Thistle at her shop while she works)

Art perks up! "I mean, I bet you could jerry rig a workspace HERE, but if you want to run back to your shop, I am glad to translate the best I can."

"It's just an idea," Gwen says "Art handles this end, Thistle the other.. and I stay ready for a fight"

She frowns. "To get the ceramic to be... I..." Trailing off, another frown.

"I could dig a kiln, but it wouldn't..."

Her hands tighten around the book, shoulders curling slightly inwards.

"I... I don't think... I... m-maybe David could help, we could find a way to bury it more deeply, too deep to be disturbed..."

Artie says to her gently but with firm determination, “you’re a Nocker. If there isn’t a way, build one.”

"Come on, Thistle. You're the girl who built trackers to save lives and more. Artie's right, your kith never say 'there's NO way'"

“Where is that Saltpetre pepper?”

"I had an idea of how to fire it, but that.. that needs the good kiln, and, like, cone 9..."

She rumples her blue-green hair. "We don't have time."

"Not sure we don't... IF David helps placate the stone. He's a glome"

"If I get the code wrong..." A grimace.

"Then we move to a plan B"

"Okay. Okay. We work out the glyphs here, and I take a copy with me to cast the clay."

"This way, we can have the book. Art, you can check my work?"

A nod "What do you need from me, if anything?"

“Of course!”

She plunks down on the "safe" side of the barrier, opening the notes once more. "Okay, so let's DO this."

Thistle flips through the pages of Caelan’s workbook, and… her heart may sink a little. The glyphs are written in such an intricate and personal cipher that they seem second nature to Caelan, but nearly impossible for her to translate in entirety- at least, without hours, maybe weeks of study!

It becomes clear that this was never meant to be a training guide—it was a personal journal of his work, meant for him alone. Trying to decode it ALL in a short time is futile.

HOWEVER, she can definitely focus on a few key glyphs and managed to get those noted down before they need to race to her workshop.

(INT plus CRAFTS, she may use WP, to see how many glyphs she has time to work through… then she may select which words or concepts she seeks.)

Thistle scowls as she reads, spirals flickering dull colors with frustration. "I can't.. there's.. I don't think I can..."

Thistle finds the realization that first she cannot take the book, and second that she cannot remember all of the glyphs, frustrating! WHY IS THERE NOT A DAMN TRANSLATION KEY?!

But after a moment, she takes a breath and focuses, and realizes that she can probably figure out a minimum of 3 key glyphs, before she has to get to her workshop to allow time for making, curing, firing, etc.
