Goggles, check. Cobbled together spectrometer-tricorder, check. Notebook, check. Tiny googles for Citrine? Chime!

"What is going on here?" Lavender asks.

"Hey. Equipment check!"

She pulls the goggles up to rest on the top of her head.

"Is this gonna explode?" D'Lorean steps back

"Nah." A beat. "Welllll...."

"It shouldn't!"

"Not too comforting" She observes

"Well, I can't guarantee nothing will explode, but it would have to be a really furkin' capricious set of unlikely circumstances."

"Oh.. okaay" A BIT calmer

"The idea is to be protected FROM any explosions."

"Which would be reeeaalllllll ironic if it blew up, instead, and not in a 10,000 spoons way."

"Spoons" A nod "Righto"

"Plus, aesthetic."

"Well, I will give it to you there, you're a snappy dresser"

"I made a set for Art, too!" She holds up a gleaming black metallic pair, with purple mirrored lenses.

"Oh he'll love it"

"Wonder when he's getting back?" she muses

She shrugs. "Soon enough. I'm not worried."

A shriek of complaint from the Aviary - not an unknown sound, but several nevers go zooming into hiding at the sound.

Citrine perches on Thistle's shoulder and chimes defiantly.

"Someone's feisty since they got an upgrade"

"Yup!" A cockeyed grin.

It's easy to be brave when seated on a much larger protector. Thistle might well do the same while standing behind Gladiola, were she here.

"I can't blame the birds for being irked. Less chance for flight," The Satyr says, then frowns "Blossom has been positively impossible to deal with"

"Well, the air is gross."

She taps her temple. "I swear, I remember a past life like this. Pittsburgh of all places, with streetlights during the day. At least I think Pittsburgh?"

"Maybe Cleveland."

"You probably are getting something there" A nod "Deja Vu is more than just a quirk for us. I thought we were using weather magics to clear the smoke out from the local area, but I guess it just rolls back again"

"Yeah. I figure, smoke is made of particulates. So the cure for smoke might ACTUALLY be fire."

"Go from whatever fercacta schmutz it is to, like, relatively harmless ash? At least inert ash."

"Huh? Really? Okay, yeah... I can see that. At least when you explain it that way."

"Right, so the next thing is to find a furnace to HOLD it, because we don't want wildfire screaming across the sky."

"Yeah, that sounds a little too apocolyptic for me" A nod

"Well, it won't be boring!"

"I'm tired of all this shit getting in my fur anyway" In truth she's more worried fdor the horses, but there you go
