“This one time, a spriggan tried to run off with a kid that Nadeen said was s’posed to be under Silverwolf protection ? And she's a bit soft on mortals, but she got REAL PISSED and called his own storm

"Wow, I was worried she got SOFT" he admits "nice thing about thallian, you can like kill em and almost no one lectures you"

"Nothing wrong with that, though apparently you should bring a blanket along to REALLY surprise them" A grin at the blanket which has grown to normal size with a huge dye splotch in it from his missed shot

“Uh oh. Hey, let's hang this back up and pretend like it was like that.”

Dirt and grass stains notwithstanding

"What has happened here?" A voice cracks like ice under too much pressure. The Baroness has arrived

"The blanket was like this when we found it, Right Briar?" Says the boy with the bloody nose to the girl with the black eye

“It must have blown off the line.” Says the girl with the swollen eye, in agreement with the nasal-sounding boy.

"Have you two been fighting?" The Baroness moves to check out each face. As if such marks might just happen spontaneously

“I'd never pick a fight with a count.” Briar protests. “That'd be stupid.”

Aiden watches, an amused smile playing on his lips.

"Only a maniac WANTS to fight with a redcap, Baroness" says Casimir with a concerned look "They didn't teach you that at Rivervale?"

Aiden chuckles aloud, and suggests, “If there was no fight, my love, clearly there are no injuries, and no one need be bothered for a heatherbalm.”

"Indeed" A brow "However, problems should be solved by those who see them, SO you two having 'found' this blanket in this state, best bring it inside so it can be washed again, and the two of you will, once that's done, set it out to dry on the line again. You will also wash your faces, delicately"

"That's not fair" Casimir protests

Briar moans as though her world is ending.

“You heard my Lady.” Aiden says, with a hint of reproach.

"Oh yes, wail and woe," Says the totally unfair Baroness, "I seem to recall lessons that it was the rulers who got to decide what 'fair' was." A look at the childling who in another life was her father, and a look then to Briar, "And a young girl protesting she wanted to be trusted with 'handling things' so off with you both"

The young Count looks tempted to give sass , but then bows despite out ranking them, and takes the blanket down, his half of it, to do as directed "Yes, Lord and Lady"

Briar huffs, but grabs an end of the blanket. “As long as we can stop being HARPED on.” She mutters, as close to agreement as she's likely to get.

The Count mutters to the redcap as they head off to do the ..gah.. chore "Bet if my plan had worked to create transform a whole state into a fae kindom I wouldn't have to do laundry, but noo.. one little slip..." and off they go

Aiden laughs merrily as soon as they are out of earshot.

“Stone cold denial. What confidence!” He chuckles, clearly amused.

Nadeen rolls her eyes to the heavens , "I know, to our faces. I don't know whether despair or rest comfortably knowing they have a career in politics"

Still, her love's laughter is infectious, and she leans against him, "I can't tell which is the worst influence on the other"

He places a kiss on her crown. “Worst, best, at least they are getting along.”

He laughs. “If you were a Gwydion, my head would have exploded.”

A snerk "No denying" She takes his hands in hers, then realizes "What time is it?"

He checks his pocketwatch. “About a quarter past?”

"OH I have to go " Like cinderalla "I have to log on for class in 5 minutes!" She gives him a kiss and races off, looking less like a ruler and more like a lovely young woman who COMPLETELY forgot she's also a college student

He watches her, admiring both aspects.

Aiden turns. “Yes…” searching, then adding in almost without a pause. “.. Ernie. You've been apprenticing with Marigold, as I recall.”

"Yes, Baron. Doing a lot of running around for her and I don't mind it. A letter came in and it's addressed to you, Baron. It appears to be , well, fae related" As he holds up an obviously chimerical scroll

He extends a hand. “Any mark or seal?”

"Yes baron but I don't know what it means, it's a horse? " He hands it over
