Chime? CHIME! They chase each other around in colorful spirals.

"Right. I'ts not a never it's a glowing ... well, I've only seen it once. Kind of like candle light, without the candle"

She squints. "So - you get a flame, and pop it off."

She pulls out her salamander gloves and a lighter.

"Like..."

"I remember..."

She stops, motioning ivan to pause as well

"You can... there's... it's just fire, and fire ain't that far off clay, Theyr'e friends."

"Uh huh"

She has a zippo - the metal is anodized, giving it a rainbow shimmer. Of course.

With a look that is simultaneously distracted and intense with concentration, she flicks the lighter. "See? So if it's... you just gotta..."

"...scoop..."

And she does - scooping the flame into her cupped palm and holding it there. "Candle light without the candle."

"Oh wow..wait.. think of Briar, put the thought into the flame"

"Uh-huh. Jaws and bristle, friend of Thistle, little fire, go find Briar."

The nocker fledge makes a gentle gesture to release the flame - and it bobs along a few feet, before hovering as if it is waiting for them to catch up.

She blinks then finds herself at an imasse

impasse* "Thistle. You know how i try not to let you do anything dangerous?"

A subvocal grumble.

"Yeah."

"Forget it. I'm about to ask you to help me track her using this thing and possisbly get us ALL Killed" A sigh "Welcome to Phase 2"

"I... uh, good, because I'm not sure if I can give it away."

"Yeah. I think the Dreaming is trying to tell me something"

"Yeah?"

"That I need to stop holding you back"

"I don't mean to. Im trying to protect you and Art. heck, I try to protect everyone. But ... it's just making you resent me and sometimes you don't see when i'm trying to push you to be brave. And thta mean any worth of me as a guide in your fledgehood is less than stellar. I'm sorry if I made what should be a year of discovery miserable"

She frowns.

"I miss when you were just my friend."

And then her cheeks flush and she scowls. "Okay, we gonna follow this thing?"
