After the auction, Sir Tástáil seeks out Gladiola, and.. the two move aside to talk

And, Gladiola will request haven for he and his squire for a day or two

Haven is granted, and welcome made for Sir Tástáil and his squire... Marigold discretely adds another grocery trip on for the week.

Briar huffs. "Three days, got it? I won't have no other caps encroachin' on my turf." She makes a loud proclamation. Appearances being important and all.

Cutbert snorts "Lucky for you, yeah " Puffing back then "Is there stuff we can throw rocks at around here?"

Tástáil thanks their hosts, and instructs Cutbert to behave, or else. "Dame Gladiola is no fledge , not any longer, but she has yet to face the Fior. I will instruct her want to expect so she can earn true peerage in the House"

Briar gives the 'cap an appraising look. "Sometimes I spit off the overpass onto cars. I used to drop rocks, but Sarge got mad. Sometimes you can still get them to crash with a loogey and it's impossible for them to blame you though, because spit's just spit and it could be rain or bird shit s'far as they know.

Hunting season's on, too. Bow started already, guns ain't until another couple weeks." A toothy grin. "Wanna go hunt for poachers?"

"We can do that?" At mention of the poachers hunting, Cutbert brightens "Oh hell yes. Maybe we can fuddle nearby rocks so instead of the rocks the poachers think they see a deer with a bazooka?"

"Yeah, or I like to sic' a dog on 'em and make 'em think it was, like a rabbit. Piss yerself silly running from a rabid rabbit and see if you get to keep any hunter cred with your bros, right?"

"But what if they shoot your dog?" He asks

A dark glower. "We got armor for 'em, but I try to sneak up first. Steal their guns, or take a bite out of the middle. That way even if they WANTED to come back, they ain't got guns to hunt with. Junk's expensive."

"Cool" Cutbert nods then smiles "Oh I got stuff, you put a pinch of it in their drinks, and they can't stop crapping for a day!"

A chortle. "Is that what they teach Daireann?"

"Oh, most of em is warriors, the best warriors they say..." He lowers his voice "But like Half the sidhe houses say that" then he speaks normally again "But they're also proud of like being hosts and cauldron keepers.. the eatting's pretty good" He says, high praise , "But like there's a section that's like really good at poisons." He makes a 'drink, then gah urk' sound

"Hospitality is boring unless I'm on the gettin' end. I can fight good, but they still won't let me in the melee at pennons." A scowl at that. "Are you gonna suck up into the house too when you're done squiring? Or just along for the free ride?"

A look over to the elderly knight then "Well.. I donno. yet. Food's good so far"

But he looks sheepish

"How'd you get stuck with the geezer?"

"Well, uhm.... " Cutbert says "You know how it is... you get in a fight... and some drip tries to help you, hnot that you NEED it... and he's like 'you wanna hang for a bit' and you're like sure... and next thing you know... you're squiring for him "

Briar might be wiley enough to notie there is a lot of face saving attempted here

She mulls over this, and offers, "yeah, that's how I got stuck with a troll."

"I mean, I could leave any time I want."

"Yeah, me too, but you know..." a shrug 'They'd get in trouble and shit"

She nods! "'Specially now that Gwen's a Knight. She's gonna get all up on her dignity about shit and think she has duties and all that. They NEED someone who sees the way things actually are and don't mind getting their mitts dirty."

Cutbert nods "XACTLY... the old man's damn good in a fight, but he's still old, and mostly when he says honor he means pride, but still, he's got some ideas could get him killed" Fffft "Boomers, right? Anyway, too many sidhe what suck for me to lose an okay one like him"

"Right." She nods, understanding each other.

"Your baron seems okay, bit of a stick in the mud in not letting you bully out of other folks out of not betting. But otherwise okay"

A SCOWL at that. "They think I don't know anything, you know. I know what's going on. He thinks that without Calanthe, they're going to look weak, so he has to toady up to the other holds and get alliances in case shit falls in on him. You ask me? Ain't the best way. If you look weak, you gotta prove you're STRONG. Go out and find someone else weaker'n you to take over, and show that you won't take no shit."

"Huh, but what would he do with two holds? he's a baron...they normally only got one, maybe two if they find a second small one"

Briar thinks about it. "Give one to a lacky to run for 'em. How many holds you need before you get to be a Count?"

"Lot of it depends on who the count of your area was... you aleady got one?"

"Yeah there's some Fiona troll out there. Never hear much 'bout him. He's way out THERE. We're HERE."

"Well he might be upset about it.. depends on the next closest holdand where it is I guess" A shrug

"He should THANK us, is what he should do, I mean, if it's so weak it just goes down without a fight?" A grumpy sound though. "Closest is Dark Gate. They're no pushovers."

"Well, a good fight can be fun, but I prefer UNfair fights, with me getting the edge" he admits

"You wanna smash it up? We got a ring, but the thanes make us use practice shit in there. Or we could go out in the woods and have a REAL fight."

"Yeah?" He asks

"I'm good wiht either..." He looks at the glass arean "maybe later we can use them to recreat what happened"

Briar is already grinning wildly. "What do you fight with? Blades? Club? Hook hand?"

"I got a big ass club, they call it a cudgel... I put spikes in mine" A grin

She shows him her gloves with the razor blades on it. "Gwen said there's stuff that keeps blood flowin' we can put on my slicers, and then the foe will bleed out quick. Ain't got it yet, though. And that's for killin' time, not sparring." She says, in a tone meant to be reassuring.

"SHIT Yeah, that would totally work.. one of them. un aunti co-agulents"

"Yeah, that stuff! With YER cudgel? Maybe a good poison on the spike tips. See, with my blades, it makes shallower cuts, and any poison might wash out with the blood, but your spikes'll jab it in good and deep. If you ain't got poison, use rot, and then you can track 'em down on the path later when it gets infected."

A sigh. "I'm not allowed to do that with stuff we hunt for food though."

"Well other folks can't eat ANYTHING like us, so they get all squirmy about their food " A nod "Sure, we can go beat up on each other... just.. you don't be surprised if I beat you up"

"Wanna bet on it? If I win, I get first go at the arena."

"You're on" He spits in his hand and offers it

Eyes narrow a bit. "You're not going to demand something back if YOU win?" Suspicious. "If we don't agree up front, that's not a deal, that's a battlefield negotiation."

"Oh," A pause "If I win, you let me try on those gloves for an hour and practice with em?"

“Practice on something else. Not on me.” She quickly barters back.

"Oh ... yeah... and you don't eat the arena pieces. I gotta give it back by Yule"
