"Hey, Locklear! Not at all. You got your registration locked up? Don't want to miss out on anything." Coach calls everyone by their last name... it's a bit of a requirement, with two Clair's and three McKenna's on the team...

Kristen gives Gwen a smile.

(Assuming she does) "Absolutely, Coach. Language got picked FOR ME but that's fine I wasn't decided for sure anyone. One thing I am sure I want is to be considered for Captain this year. I hope you're still considering me?"

Kristen interrupts, "Oh, that's funny you should ask, we were just talking about that. I mean, I did lead us to finals last year, didn't I?"

It's true, though not to State championships...

Coach Tammy corrects her, "Co-coach. Kinzie lead as coach, and she graduated. Finals was good, but we want to see the Comettes make STATE this year, don't we?"

"That's the goal" Gwen says "State. And while Kristen , you did fine, I think we can get further. I'd like a chance to get us there"

The coach glances between the two girls - in an Anime, lightning flashes would be crashing between their eyes as they meet each other's gaze!

"Well, how do you think we should settle this?"

"Seniority!" Kristen immediately answers.

"If we go by seniority, my people invented Lacrosse but that would be a silly reason" The Native American girl says "How about who has helped individual team mates better their game? Brooke deserves every praise for upping her speed and reaction time, but I'm the one who took time to help her out and give her tips. I'm saying I've already been acting in a leadership role. If you agree, Coach we should make it official"

"Prince has a point." Coach Tammy nods to Kristin, who smirks. "She's been on the team two years to your one."

"And I have experience coaching from working with Kinzie last season." Kristin adds. "We need more than just brute muscle and a hug circle, you also need to know when to take a hard line and cut someone who's not making the grade."

"Brute force and a hug circle?" A look "Kristen, you would have CUT Brooke if you could and now's she's one of our most dependable players," Then a look at the Coach "It's your call coach, but I think I'm the better choice , or I wouldn't have presented myself"

Coach Tammy ponders this, then snaps her fingers. "You'll be co-coaching the team this year."

"BUT!" Kristin starts to protest.

"Prince, it's my decision. I expect you two to both work together to show me your leadership skills. Locklear, learn from Prince's experience, she knows the players, the game, and our opposing teams. Prince, Locklear has a good eye for talent. A coach needs to be able to work with her entire team. Prove to me that you can both do that."

Kristin frowns, but nods to the coach.

Shooting Gwen a glance.

A stunned look, then "Yes, Coach" She holds out her hand to Kristen "Congratulations to us both "

Kristen accepts and shakes the hand, a firm grip. "Yeah, we'll see."

The coach gives her a bit of a glance, but that's vague enough to not get called out on. "Good. Now I'll see you ladies for the introductory practice and new team tryouts on...." Information provided, they have a bit of time for school to start and settle in before the season really kicks in.

Gwen ponders squezingg HARDER but instead matches the the firmness no more no less. "Thanks, Coach." And she takes the notes provided

Then she's off to find Chuck.. and hang out! because darn it, they're teenage sweethearts. Geez
