The sun rises over Silverwolf Barony, as it does every morning. But this morning it is a little brighter, a little warmer, and brings with it the promise of Summer and the coming year. Though the forecast had called for a rainy day, as the sun rises to a chorus of frog-song (tiny peepers!), the mist clears and it promises to be a truly lovely occasion.
Marigold is not letting a moment of her rejuvenated vigor go to waste, and is up even before the sun, preparing a twin set of feasts for the day. Every sumptuous offering both significant as well as delicious. From the traditional bannock oatcake, lightened to an almost crisp and airy sweetness, to the delicate salads of new greens - spring cabbage with vibrant mustard seeds, spring strawberry crumble with rich cream, delicate single-bite parfaits with honey and pomegranate. Delicate savory tarts, spring beef stew with the last of the winter's parsnips and rutabagas, long-roasted to bring out the hidden sweetness. And more!
She has outdone herself, but rather than declaring the kitchen her own, anyone who chose to help was welcome, and so it is that many dishes have their own touch, and none of them can be considered lesser. The oatcakes were cut into rabbit shapes by a pooka, though her lover points out that they could also be seen as a goat's head with long horns!
Linnea carefully tops parfaits with honey and candied violets, the first of the season, that she carefully gathered herself.
Dolph from the stables shows up with bottles of mead that he has been brewing over the winter, and Even Calanthe contributes, with bottles of wine from a nearby vineyard.
Dame Lavender DeLorean and Baroness Dancingsnow are gifted with baskets of treats to take to Rivervale with them - from both Marigold AND Bluebell, who insists that the chocolate rabbits go to the Hearth.
Fledge Gwen finds herself with free time - no chores for Beltane day! She is free to help, or relax, or enjoy as she wishes!
Aiden is up early and makes sure to see his knight and his lady off before they go.
