"Maybe i can ..leave something for the Vixen."

"You could leave that rabbit." Briar points out, ever helpful. "Though it looks more fluff than meat."

"Oh come on Briar, he's not for eating.. he's a gift, meant to be a pet" She says

"Weird gift to give Bluebell though. That'd be like giving you a rock!" She laughs at her own joke.

A smirk, okay, that WAS kind of funny "Yeah he may not have thought it through, but .. wish she'd heard him out" Gwen is wistful, then looks at the bunny "Ivan might want to chew on you, little guy"

Briar eyes the rabbit like she might want to chew on him a bit, too. Then she sighs. "Aw, you damn bleeding heart. You can have some of the freezerburned elk that Boss said to chuck out. I was going to clean the bones to make... I had this idea, I could string 'em up like a skeleton and drop it from the trees so it danced in front of campers... but the foxes can gnaw the meat off first. And then there might be more foxes to hunt later."

"Thanks, Briar. I know it can be annoying dealing with soft mushy trolls like me" A smile

"You're not the worst. You're like, like... what's it. An armadillo. Hard on the outside, but squishy on the inside. But what are ya gonna do with that, if not eat it? Something here is gonna eat it. Rabbits are for eating. That's their JOB. It's like, the food pyramid."

"Actually, while not as popular as dogs or cats, some folks do just keep rabbits as companion pets. Or even emotional support animals" She explains, "In certain tribal stories, Rabbit , not Coyote or Raven, is the trickster figure"

A dubious look. "That's like saying that your spirit animal is a taco."

A laugh "Okay, that's funny... but think on it. Rabbit is a master at hiding. They populate like crazy. They look innocent, but in numbers can empty out the food of your garden like that" she snaps her fingers "And it's not just tribes that know this. Bugs Bunny? Briar Rabbit? Tricksters"

Her eyes widen. "I ain't no rabbit!"

"Bugs Bunny does get it good on Elmer Fudd and Daffy though." She admits. "I like it when he ties the gun in a knot and it explodes in his face."

"Just so" A nod then "But it's cool, there's a trickster for every culture, probably why pooka come as so many animals" She ponders

"Like that dumb sheep boy?"

"You only hear about sheep BEING tricked. Like the wolf in a sheep's coat. But the way I heard that, sometimes it's told that the wolf ends up turned into mutton, so I guess that's kinda a trick..."

"Oh look, I know you and he didn't get along but that pepper in the eyes bit is old news now rightt?"

"I ain't seen him. I get to go to GOOD school now and kill things. S'far as I know he's still going to muggle school. But if you needed some place to stash that rabbit where nothin' can eat it, you could always take it to the billy-goat farm. That place is filled with tasty snacks no one is allowed to eat."

"Yeah.. can't believe they let you butcher things and apply it to a biology credit" She shakes her head "But thanks for the zoo suggestion"

And she takes the rabbit to think that over.
