"Doesn't your hair ever get in the way?" Lupe asks

Masey smirks "Often, but no pain no gain, and I've got vanity too"

"I could show you better ways to braid it." Sam offers.

Masey starts to say one thing, then ponders "I was about to say I know em all, I just like it long and loose, but hey, you know, might be fun just to try"

"Well, yours is so long, might be a pain to do some of them on yourself. Mom always does better on mine than I do, for sure. Though it's so straight, that'll be a new thing."

"Yeah, it's slippery stuff" Masey grins "But we could give it a try"

"I won't make promises, but I can do my best."

"Hey, as long as it doesn't get shortened, no long lasting harm done." Masey smiles

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of cutting it."

"Hell, I still remember the time I had to have my head shaved." Nose-wrinkle.

"Your mom made you shave your hair?" Masey gasps and gives Tove a horrorfied look

"What? No!"

Tove says "Thank you for defending my honor. I think masey just scooted a foot from me"

"Nah, I was.. uh... 7? Second grade, for sure. I have bad... uh.. I have na-... my hair was too hard for my foster family to take care of, and it got so matted they decided it would be easier to just get rid of it."

"Assholes!" Masey says loudly, then blushes "Sorry, Mrs King"

"You ain't wrong" Lupe mutters

A shrug. "It's not that uncommon in care. I'm not the only person that ever happened to. Least it wasn't mats and lice, because that's just got to be hell."

"ugh, LICE" Masey shivers

"I had that, when I was a kid," Lupe says

"Right? The worst."

"My stupid brothers gave it to me" Lupe nods "I didn't have to shave it, but I had this gunk in my hair that smelled like shi... smelled bad"

"Pretty sure we've all heard you swear before."

"Well, yeah" Lupe says "But your mom is right HERE"

A snort from Tove "How about I leave you three be so you can be yourselves?"

"Love you!"

"Love you too" She smiles and heads off

"Your mom is cool" Masey declares after she's gone out of the room

"Yeah, she is."

"She's fucking amazing" Lupe nods "almost never missed a game"

Nod-nod-nod. "She made most of my home meets last semester. Brought CJ!"

"Who is CJ?" Masey says "Oh wait, you got a little bro right?"

"Cute little monster" Lupe nods

"Yup." Grin.

Brown Dog lays his head on Maisy's knee, making sad eyes.

Masey soon is playing with Brown Dog's face and rubbing it "Oooby booby boo"

"Dogs have no dignity" The werewolf comments sadly

"Two Bit would disagree."

"Odin shares your opinion, of course."

"Odin?" Masey looks up but keeps woo wubbing Browndog

"World's most opinionated cat" Lupe observes

"Odin, TwoBit and Brown Dog were all hurricane refugees."

Odin peers down from the top of the fridge. Peasants.

Masey grins at Odin "I see what you mean about opinions" She smiles and keeps petting Brown Dog "I like cats when they don't go for my hair"

"Well, how do you resist batting at it?"

Ah! Blush!

"they don't" Masey laughs "That's my problem" And she shakes her hair to demonstrate. It sways like magic. So much luster

A soft sigh.

Lupe says "There is no way you can play basket ball with that. It gets caught in the net"

Masey laughs again "I suppose you're right"

"So, tell me, Sam, when's your next sport event?" Masey says "I want to see it"
