Now that she's acted as a guardian, she gets the feeling she's brought eyes on her.

Well, that was almost inevitable. Eventually, somebody was going to get concerned about trolls in the mix.

She keeps a close watch on the chef, making sure she doesn't appear to be getting dim at all.

And she gets to take classes with her! Which are a true joy!

Chef Liessele can teach even her, but not much! And the others here at the class fall behind Kerri... a few feeling quite foolish

Kerri tries to keep that from happening too much. She doesn't want to inspire resentments. So she carefully uses all the people-managing tricks she's learned as a Hearth, not offering help where it isn't wanted but also providing 'cover' when somebody makes an embarrassing error.

And that soothes damaged pride, and even inspires others... it's what she does.

It's not unnoticed, and Chef Lisselle asks her to stay after a class for a bit

That's hardly a hardship. Kerri's been staying after to help with cleanup as a matter of course.

Lisselle says "Kerri? I thought you said you weren't a restauranteer? "

"I'm not," she asserts, a bit confused.

"Then where did you learn such excellent management skills? You're an amazing chef yourself when it comes to cooking, that's obvious. but your leadership skills make you a Chef in a professional sense . You could work here"

"And I don't mean as an assistant" Knowingly

"Here? Oh, I wouldn't last a week. I'd rub too many feathers the wrong way," she says with a chuckle. "No, like I said, I'm a cook for a large household. That involves not just groceries and menus...it involves managing everybody."

"I can see that" She says impressed "I hope you're getting something out of the class and are enjoying it? Food is...if Mother Nature were a person, cooking would be how we paid tribute to her and all she gives us"

That makes Kerri smile fondly. "That's a beautiful way of putting it. Taking her gifts, mixing them with our own, and making something new out of it all to nourish our fellows in the world. As to the class, I absolutely am learning new things. That little trick with chopping the carrots, for an example, is a definite improvement on what I've been doing."

"Oh thank you. I always mention that because so often it gets skipped. It's like those who know ASSUME everyone else does as well... which is, well, I'll be honest, I thought it was a conspriacy for a bit" She sparkles with glamour at her talk of mother nature and Chef Conspiracies "Like a group of chefs were meeting in tackey cowled robes to deny others this 'great secret'. "

A curious head tilt. "Did somebody let you in on the 'great secret'? Somebody who inspired you?"

She listens while enjoying the warmth of the Glamour.

"Oh yes, a man named Alfonzo. I would call him Chef Alfonzo, but he cooked only for his family much like you do for yours and might have laughed if I used it as a title. "

"So, unofficial but very skilled. But you're using the past tense."

"Alas, that sweet old man passed away five years ago"

"I'm so sorry. I imagine he was glad to have passed on much of his knowledge and skill to you."

"He was I..." She goes on about him..

and Kerri notices something. they're not alone

She listens, but divides her attention a little to see if she can determine who else is there. Mortal, fae, chimera?
