Of course, getting Dinner on Pennons is like shooting fish in a barrel. But Basil actually suggests a restaurant that's new in the area "Never been, want to give it a shot?"

She shrugs. "I'm game. Am I dressed okay for it?"

Her mortal mein is in jeans, jacket over nice blouse, boots. Her hair's a bit windblown-looking from the sparring.

He is dressed equally causual "Well, that depends on how fancy you want to get , but I don't think they'd kick us out"

"Sounds good. Lead the way!" she says with a smile.

"I'm glad we did that sparring. I needed to burn off some Pennons treats. I'm partial to my mom's stuff, of course. You heard the prize she got? I can't believe she's actually going to leave the Lodge for a week!"

She's smiling and a bit chatty, in a holiday mood.

"I Know, and Crete's like the mother land for Satyrs, well, close. though obviously..." He gestures to his dark skin with a wink "I am a bit South of that mortal side. Why was your mom fighting it ? Sounds great" The Cool Cat Gate is an odd name for a Restaurant, not necessarily giving a clue to what they serve. The building has a fresh coat of paint but the building is old and refurbished.

She grins at his reference to himself, then says, "She's kind of a workaholic. The Lodge is pretty much her life. Which sounds kind of bad, but I mean, it's like she really thrives there, y'know? Even so, I bet she'll love Crete when she actually gets there. Dad'll make her go," she says with certainty, and then gives the restaurant name a curious double-take. "This is it?"

"YEah, I was talking to that boggan with the Soul Food Irish combo? SHe said she ate here the night before pennons..says it's got great soul food, and good music"

"I haven't had a lot of soul food. You might need to recommend what I should order." She seems eager enough to try it, though.

"Soul Food and Irish sure sounds like a weird combo, but that boggan seemed pretty nice."

"Oh definitely weird combo, but yeah she seemed cool. Soulfood isn't really that different in some ways from what you've tried, just a bit touched up... it's kind of a mix of West African, Eastern Native Amerian, and, of course, Antebellum poor folks food. " They enter the crowd.

"Busy place," she says, observing the crowd.

It does seem lively ... a server walks up, all smiles "Welcome, table or booth?"

Sylvi looks to Basil. "Booth?"

"Yeah, Booth please" He says to the Server

She gives the server a patented Sylvi Davidson smile.

"This way " The server guides them over to a booth, and one with a bit of space

"Thanks." Sylvi slides into one side of the booth.

And you two settle in and they are given menus. She takes a look over: Red Beans and Hamhocks, Oxtails and Rice, Fried Fish and Cheese Grits, Black Eyed Peas, Catfish... quite the selection

"Mmmm...." It does look good. "Tell me what you're having, and I'll order something different. Then we can share."

He gives a sly smile "I like the fact you're in a sharing mood. Not sure why, but it gives a man hope. How about I try the Oxtails and Rice. Seeing anything you see you wanting to give a shot at ?"

She gives him an amused look in reply. "Hope, hm?" Then to the menu. "Ummmmm...I think the catfish."

Orders made, the Server says "Good call on the Catfish, it's one of our chef's best works"

Another smile to the server. "I should have asked you for your recommendation, but I'm glad I guessed right. Thanks!" Is she flirting with the server?

The server smiles back at her "Anytime you want a recommendation; we are happy to provide" He's cute ish, not as fit as Basil. but cute. Once he's gone...

Basil grins "Damn , Sylvi. you're not shy"

She looks back to Basil and gives a little unabashed shrug. "Not exactly, no. Did you think I was?" she asks with a smile.

"Nah, been around enough to know you tend to own a room when you walk in, and don't worry, satyrs don't get jelly ...specially not on a first date," Basil assures her "Guy would be crazy not to notice you anyway. You must be breaking hearts at college"

Her brows go up. "This is a date?" she clarifies, surprised...or maybe just seeming surprised. Then another little shrug and the smile slips. "It's kind of hard to tell at college. Things are moving kind of fast there, and I just never really feel like I have much time for...well, anything. Today's a nice break, and I really needed it."

"Sorry I ambushed you, getting a bit too close to Samhain for me to be above an ambush" Basil admits, then says "Sorry if College has you scrambling. Yeah, you gotta take time now and then or you'll go crazy right?"

"True." She takes a sip of water. "You're beginning to feel it? Samhain?" She lowers her voice, but the booth does provide a measure of privacy for conversation.

He lowers his golden horns "Sylvi, I know it's only Pennons but I feel like it's much later than that. And It ain't a bad thing right? Maybe I'm a lilttle more selfish, but I'm not an ass about it, least I don't think so. So yeah, I just got to spar with this amazon who wanted to cut loose anyway, no needed to, and I get her to a spend a meal with me while I get to flirt and tell her how amazingly hot she is, hoping to rev her engine a little? Yeah, I'm feeling it, and I don't feel guilty. "

Her cheeks color a bit, and she takes a slow, deep breath before wetting her lips and shaking her head slightly, grinning. "I might not be exactly shy, but you really put it all out there on the table, don't you?" This doesn't seem to be a complaint.

"Well , we could say I'm just as Bold AF, but on the other side, it's also just wise not to try playing a girl as smart as you. Summer or not, you might hold a grudge if I over did that... yeah , cards are on the table and it's all hearts" A wink "Well, close enough I hope to be a winning hand"

She can hear the server approaching with their meals

The approach of the server makes her realize she's been leaning in slightly, and she moves back to allow room for the food to be served.

The food is served, and it smells great

"Nice," she says in appreciation of the food. "Thank you!" That bright smile again. But it turns to something a bit more subtle as the server moves away and she looks back to Basil. "Playing hearts too quickly can be a bad move, y'know," she points out, then samples her meal.

"Could end up in a guy getting beaten with clubs?" He countes eyes twinkling

She rolls her eyes and smiles. "Okay, yes. But...probably not in this case. Spear, probably, but not clubs." Another taste. "This is really good," she observes.

Catfish is not a regular at the Davidson table, not that it's never been there, it's just not a regular. So this is a bit of a rare treat, and the spices are not over done.

"How's yours?"

"Mine's not bad either..." He says "Oxtails are good, but the rice is great.. try some ?" remembering their offer.

"Sure, and here, have some of mine..." She moves her plate so he can reach it.

He extends a fork to take a piece, closing on her again

She likewise reaches across to claim a bit of his meal, her arm brushing his lightly.

the brush goes both ways, and she can see he's gazing into her eyes, drinking them in with more appetite than just for the meal
