And by the time Katrina returns home, she may notice the apartment complex has a new sign...bright and styling, the logo touched up

Linnea notices. "Huh. That's new."

"...Huh."

"Brightens it up a bit, though."

"Make sure you turn on the signal here." Luckily, there are spaces available - no parallel parking needed in the lot.

"Right!" Blinker!

She does need to stop mid-turn, back up a little further, and go for the space a second time.

An approving nod. "If you need hours behind the wheel for your driving cert, let me know. I can't officially sign off on them, but more practice is always good."

"It is... your car is different from Dad's. He's taken me out to parking lots."

"We have a number of cars at the Manor. Trucks for the horses both with and without trailers, a minivan for Marigold to drive the kids around, Bluebell's is the bug, and, well. There are a few sports cars and luxury models. Ask me next time you're by, and we can try whichever you prefer." A pause, "Probably not the black and silver porsche, Not right away anyways."

She snerks at that

"You had a busy day yesterday. Do not worry about your brother. I will keep an eye around Watertown, and we will watch the... 'Sniffer', too, to be sure." Linnea adds. "Be sure to go to school tomorrow. It is not good to miss too many classes."

There's someone sitting on the front stoop of her building.

Oh, she knows that slender frame. AND that patched hand-me-down winter hat. It's Art!

"Thanks, Linnea. Though I hope we don't need to use that thing again."

She smiles when she spots Art, spirals pinking.

"Maybe you can repurpose it to warn about annoying door-to-door salesmen. After all, it worked perfectly."

"Hey, it did!"

"Go, he's waiting for you, and it's cold out there."

"Right! Idjit will freeze to the steps."

A chuckle. Meanwhile, Art has finally looked up from the pages of the book he is turning with cold-reddened fingers, and waves enthusiastically at them.

"OY. You gonna have your hands fall off! Inside!"

Linnea moves to the driver's seat, and has to push the seat waaaaaay back to get in, but she waves before driving off.

Art calls over, "I had to bring you your homework!"
