Yet what he hears.. is.. a bit disturbing

"Glowing... keeblers.. and the tricksters... if this puck has offended. Puck you.. that's what I'd say... ha" mumble

Adam is very aware of the Oath he took.... so he says nothing.

"go where I want.. do what I want..."

But it's warm, at least.

.... and late.....

Slowly he slips into a zen state.

"Thanks boy... thanks a lot" He hears a very familiar voice

Oh, he was just on the fuzzy edge of sleep, in a twilight.... but he opens his eyes. Familiar?

He looks up to see his own face.

Adam is confused.

"Might want to get a bath while you can, old timer" He flips him a few dollars "Least I can do for the swap" 'Adam' turns and walks away with..gear and goods

"HEY!" Adam leaps up and after... uh, himself.

he stumbles on older aching legs. He reaches out with filithy hands..and then sees his reflection. Or rather.. the reflection of the bum he had been ignoring earlier

Old Adam staggers after .... his own image. "Stop! Come back here!!"

"Miss, this bum is hassling me help?" 'Adam' says

"Max?" The lady behind the counter says to a security guard who puts down his coffee, and puts a hand on his night sttick

"He's got.... he took....." the bum falters, hands clenching and releasing "...."

"Let's go out, old timer" A 'push' of sorts, gentler than it could be.

While 'Adam' smirks and goes around a corner.

The bum staggers out as directed, following 'Adam' if possible.

The younger healthier body glances back, "Hey.. watch this. Healthy body" And 'adam' runs..

The bum tries to follow.....

And his lungs suck in cold air... and while he can run.. it's not for as long, or as fast.

He goes as long as he can... but....

Soon he is out paced, and leaning against a street sign to recover his..well..someone else's breath

He's lost 'Adam'

Tears well in his green eyes as he wheezes.

He wipes them away with the back of a dirty hand and looks around to orient himself. Where is he?

About a block and a half from the bus s tation in town

He looks for anything open.....

Not a lot...

Is that a taco truck? It's warm, and glowing, and there's someone in there

He makes his way over.

A man's face pops out "Welcome to Toshi's Taco Empire! The Japanese Owned Mexican Food truck here in America you never knew you wanted"

"Can... can I use a phone? It's an emergency."

Toshi looks at him, "You.. gonna buy a taco ? Come on man, I know you look hard up, but I'm risking death every moment I'm in business"

He searches for money in his pockets... there was a couple bucks, HIS money....

He has ... 3 bucks and 52 cents.

He puts all of it on the counter.

"That's all I got, just let me use the phone?"

"Here.. you're hard up. I'll give you the cheap one." And he makes a small chicken taco.. and returns some change. "And no charge for the phone"

"Thanks.... " The bum takes the phone first, dials....

"Hello?" A soft whisper

he almost doesn't hear it

"Lily, it's Adam. Listen, this is important." He speaks quickly, quietly. "I know how this sounds but my body got stolen. Someone else is using it and I have... I'm old. You have to tell mom and dad, don't trust .... me. He's got all my stuff, he knows where we live. Call the Lodge, everyone else. Tell Piper! I'm going to try can call everyone too but I don't know how long I'll have this phone. Can you do it?"

"you don't sound like adam"

"I know! I know! Listen.... You know Nab. She might be able to tell if it's me or not, if she wants to. And you have Ms. Prude, right? You met her when we moved in. She's creepy but she watches out for you. I know why you're whispering, and I know what you eat. It's me, but I don't look or sound like me."

"if you're Adam, what did you say to mom the other night when she said she had been bad?"
