Frank nods and offers a hand to Dagmar. "I will Veil us."

"Sounds good."

She sticks on her helm before taking the hand.

He grips her ready for 'thumb war,' and engages with her thumb!

Vali gets a head start

Eyebrow.

Thumb battle!?

Frank crushes her easily, and they vanish from sight and mind.

Shamed by her loss, the Gwydion feels the rage rising and... nah, ,she's good.

The area they're in is not entirely deserted. People have to live, and in poorer areas, ain't no body who has a job is going to risk losing it.

Frank will keep Dagmar's hand in his, unless she objects.

She fusses a little, but figures it's required.

They move to the bad part of the neighborhoods... they chose their motel for a reason.

Dagmar may feel a bit rusty, though to be fair, she's not used to Memphis... but she remembers enough not to drop her guard for herself while she and Frank follow Vali. They're veiled, but you never know. She notes some gang signs. Mortals could be almost as big a danger to Vali as the Thallian are if he's not careful.

Frank can smell the desperation...a nd he looks at the high points in windows... this part of Memphis is tense, on edge. And some gangs will have eyes. He spots one.. high point... youth with a tattoo design on hsi neck and garish purple and green.

Frank keeps his eyes open, yes, and Kenns as he sees the need.

NOt a bad plan...soon enough , Valli limps by and a regular plain jane (or jack) mortal tries to guide him to an alley.

There is a PUnching sound, and Vali comes back out of the alley.

So far, no Thallian.

Frank glances over to check on Dagmar.

Dagmar hears voices in the slummy building nearby...

She pauses, listening

"Shut the fuck up, you little brat" Two stories... no glamour. Purely a mortal matter.

Frank pauses with her, clearly unsure why they have stopped but trusting her.

SCOWL

A whimper.. and then..silence

Eyes widen and she pulls away from Frank.

And Vali is further and further away as he plays his part as bait.

"Vali depends on us." He murmurs to avoid drawing attention to them and breaking the Veil.

Clear distress as she looks up at the window again.

"I didn't hear or see anything. Is it urgent?" He keeps his eyes on Vali.

"A kid..."

Frank scowls.

He pulls them off to the side and texts Vali, dropping the Veil if needed.

So far the veil holds

Txt: Dagmar has found a child that needs help. Can you come back?

"I'm sorry, I know, mission..." She frowns.

TXT: Not sure. But will work my way back. You two do what you think is right

"Vali is going to work his way back. Can we wait until he rejoins us?"

She nods.

Vali moves along limping, , keeping up his act...

as he heads back their way. he's now in clear sight and closing

Dag scans the window, looking for signs of life inside the apartment.

A silhouette, a dumpy woman comes into view, a scowl on her face, the belt in her hand is..telling.

She clenches her hands into fists.

Valli texts TXT:Am I near you guys? You're still veiled

TXT: Yes. We are next to the fenced-off c-store, against the wall.

And he nods looks about, and looks nervous.

And..Dagmar is furiously hovering, waiting for just one more cry or yell it seems.

TXT: Keeping Veil up to help, but we're heading up to the second floor. Follow us.
