At the Barn, Odin is getting a week's worth of makeup love and attention. And brushing!

a knock at the door nearby

"Yeah?"

"It's your grandpa, can I come in?" Torin says

"Oh! Yeah!"

She bounces off the bed, retrieving something from the closet.

He comes in on, and looks about, seeing "I see it's Odin's spa day" A bit of humor

"Well, he was neglected. Brat."

"Knowing him, I'm sure he informed you of this. I'm told you and your father had quite an adventure"

"We did. He wanted to get this mask for Tove?"

"The one her mother made? Well, I wanted to help, too.."

"I saw the mask, it's..well, I wish you could have met your grandmother. She was an amazing woman."

"She sounds it..."

"I got something for you, too, but it needs fixed..."

"Oh?" He sits down to pet Odin

Torin's style of cat petting is to work both sides with his large hands

"Yeah... I think Chief or Miss kerri can heal it?

"Sure, you can balm things" A nod

Odin is purring

"So, well..."

Her grandfather looks over curious

She just holds out the cane, without further ado

"Oh my word" He takes the cane pieces and beams "I...I don't know what to say. Your grandmother crafted this with.. see the designs? Like a welsh love spoon you can lean on?"

"Yeah, Dad pointed that out. I thought you'd like to have it."

"I am, thank you" He says "i'l lsee if I can get it rejoined" A nod, somber, wistful, but she can see his eyes light up

A smile at her, "I suppose you'd be insulted if I offered to repay you somehow?"

"I... well, it's yours"

"I wanted it to be a gift."

"It is one" He nods smiling over the two pieces.

Odin is a bit irked. The petting stopped

"Oh, the horses are doing fine. Gerd and the Chief and Connor took good care. I wanted to help but I think the poor things almost felt crowded" A wink

"I saw! I'll have to do something nice to thank them..."

"You have a CD player somewhere in this house right?" He says

"Uh... I think Tove does, yeah."

"I got you something too. You may think it's silly"

"Yeah? I'll get it, be right back. Worship Odin, I'm sure he thinks he deserves it."

"Oh, you don't have to get the player, I can just hand you the CD " He offers

"Oh! Ok!"

He hands over a CD "It's got 20 songs .. inspired or involving horses. Horse with no Name, Beer for my horses, A four legged friend by Roy Rogers... and more"

"Apparently you saved a bunch of horses? So I was told."

"Now, how do I get the story out of my grand daughter?" A grin "Skalds need material"

"We did!"

"So, like, the mask was owned by this dude that owned an arena, and he said he needed riders...."

"Seems like a good thing, you're the best rider I know" A nod. Others ride, but his grand daughter is BEST rider

"Well, dunno about that... but I do okay. What we didn't know was that it was like grand theft horse racing.."

"Landmines and weapons and these spinny blade things..."

"What kind of horse race does that?" Hurumph
