After the other wilders wander off, Symon trails after Kerri to (somewhere relatively private? Kitchen, or larger perhaps?) "Uh, Hearth? You're probably busy with all going on... but if you have a minute?"

"Hm? Oh, Symon, I'm so sorry, I totally forgot....there's sluagh-friendly food in the cabinet, right here." She reaches for some of the tupperware.

"Ah, that's okay. I'm not hungry, really. I wanted to talk to you... " He holds out the snakeskin-bound book. "About this."

Kerri pauses and redirects. "And this is...." She looks at it curiously, without touching.

((This is the treasure she identified for him last night, with the Dragon's Ire art, assisted learning in Realms, and DEMON SUMMONING characteristics!))

((Right, okay, I forgot that was one in the batch.))

"Ahh....yes. That's a dangerous book, Symon."

He nods slowly, meeting her gaze. "I plan on studying it, and learning what it has to offer. The realms... those are useful to anyone. But the Art within, that's... " A pause, and he shoves a handful of greasy hair from his face, though it falls right back down. "I know where I have strengths, and I'm not... and never will be... a warrior."

"No. I suppose not." She watches him carefully. "What are you suggesting?"

"Would you keep it here? I could take it home, but Ann Marie... she's great and all, but she doesn't understand privacy. And... Dirk... and there's this goblin that sometimes messes in my belongings..." A shrug. "I know you have the puppy here, and those other kids come and go, but I'd trust you better to help keep it where no one might accidently summon something they didn't want to- or couldn't... deal with..."

A narrow look, almost suspicious, and she glances at a high cabinet that is the only one fitted with a padlock. A pause...and then a nod. "I can do this, on two conditions."

He tilts his head so that the locks fall out of his eyes, and gazes up at the troll to hear her terms...

"One, if that thing starts acting up and hurting people in some way, we destroy it. I won't do that without telling you first, but it will need to be done. And second, if I see you harming others with what you learn from that book, the same thing applies. Understand?"

His eyes widen with surprise. "But... it's a treasure. You can't DESTROY it... think of the learning that could be lost. I've never even HEARD of this art, and only have the slightest ideas of how it might be used, and even now the memories are fading..."

A serious look. "I understand. And this is only if those conditions present themselves. I would not want to do it, but it would have to be done in that case."

He gums at a finger... had he teeth, he might be worrying the nail much as Dagmar sometimes does. "If the.. if the treasure itself is at fault, and is causing whatever to happen, like it has a sentience, or an evil presence... then I would understand. But if it's just the contents... I can't agree to that. Any knowledge can be dangerous. But the blame falls on the one who uses it." He juts his weak chin out, looking solemn and as stern as the slight lad can look.

"And if that responsibility needs to be mine..." He swallows, throat bobbing. "Then it will be."

She nods and puts up a hand reassuringly. "The sentience thing is what I meant. I won't censure knowledge, though I hope you use it wisely and compassionately."

He relaxes a bit, then blushes a rather mottled greenish-purple. "Uh, sorry. I come her asking a favor, then argue... it's not Polite of me."

"No, but I understand your need. You value information. And it is a treasure. You are defending the Dreaming. I respect that."

"The summoning is one thing... but the other thing in here, the Art... that could be Really Important. A big deal for the Lodge, what with your warriors. ...would you learn it? Or know someone who it could be taught to, without having to reveal the dangerous parts of the book? I'd like for someone to learn it, even if it would be wasted on..." A small gesture at himself, with a shrug. Not disparaging, really, just... realistic and honest with himself.

"I'm not sure I understand what it is...."

His brows furrow a bit as he remembers what he read, and what that seemed to mean to him when he was in the dreaming, though it is fading away. "A warriors art... to summon- or invoke, a dragon's power?" He offers her the book, so that maybe it might come to her if she holds it or glances within the pages?

Kerri looks at him and then takes the book carefully and looks at it again.

She shakes her head briefly, then opens the book. "Show me where."

As far as she knew, Dragon's Ire was drawing on connection the Dreaming for enhanced battleprowess. This claims it is an art

She looks and reads....and her eyes get big. "Ohh..." A quiet revelation.

He pages through, past spidery script that speaks of realms and how to channel them, then back a few pages from a complex diagram with some sort of geometric circles drawn... "Here." He whispers as he reads aloud, "...will let one secure a mighty power of war, and ferocity, and place it at thy disposal, should thee possess the valor and fortitutde to bend it to thy will..."

A deep breath. "You think I should learn this." She checks.

It's something, some might say it is an ideal storm magic, but it has similar things to primal

He looks up at her. "You're the Hearth. If not you, you'd know who should. You're... key, to the inner running of the lodge. Everyone has their place, but you're like - the center millstone. You see how it all fits together, and keep things going smooth."

A slow nod. And then a slow grin. "You either believe that, or you're very good at flattery."

"I will consider it. And I will consider who else should learn it."

She is not Gwydion, but he did SOUND sincere. And it was here where no one else could see him doing something as embarrassing as telling an adult she knows more than him,...

"There was something else I'd been meaning to ask you." He admits.

"Oh?"

He quickly adds, "And... I'm not trying to leverage this art. Either way, even if you say no, Rivervale should learn this. Dagmar, should... at least I think so. But I wanted to ask you about..." A quick glance that the door is closed, and he looks back to the Hearth. "I saw once, you use an art. It looked like... Sovereign..."

A rapid blink, and she goes quite still. After a moment, she says, "Is that what you think you saw?" Her voice is carefully even.

That power is still hers. The temptation is gone..at least, the magic influence

He hesitates, and nods. "It is... but I can't be sure. Which is why I never said word of it. Rumours are a boggan's domain. Secrets are mine. But secrets aren't much use if they're not true. But if it was... with such an ability, even... even someone weak, can find a way to prevail. Sure, you can't command a knight or lord to answer you if you're common as sewer dirt, but - if you're being attacked by a beast, or a spirit, or a bloody-minded mortal, or a.. a creature that may fall under a Kithain's dominion, even one... small, or weak..." He says this last with a hint of bitterness he can't quite strip away... "You might still be able to prevail."

"You...you're asking me to teach you...." A look at the book with the very valuable art, and finally understands that this wasn't just about generosity. She presses her lips together. "I see."
