Once inside, the power of the hold can be felt. Her eyes first fall onto what looks to be a small oil lamp, the sort used in old days for fancy writing, for this is the container of the freehold. The rest is a cross between comfort and elegance, like one might achieve in the 1880s...not that she's famiilar with that time. She notices on the wall, carvings in the wood....someone has copied signatures and made it decoration : Nathaniel Ayers- Free Man, Jacob Bennet- Freeman, Jonah Brown- Freeman, Mary Brown-Freewoman... the names fill a wall from the top to the bottom and tall enough for her to not quite bump her head...with the words 'hereby released upon the order of...' signed ..wait, these are the names of slaves as they were released.
