"I don't know but I've been towwwld...," May chants "People like their grass freshly mowed"

As the three girls work on the lawn

"I don't know if you heard it said..." May continues, "But you best not nick her flower bed..."

Lupita looks at Sam, "Please, please tell her to stop?"

"She's having such fun, though."

"Ugh" Lupita says and keeps working

"So much suffering." She laughs before revving up the weed-eater.

"Mama mama, we're having fun..." May throws in "Because we're getting those benjermins"

"Jacksons."

"Well they add up," May says but trims the edges of the walk.

"True!"

"Bravo bravo girls," As if she were the opposite of McGilidudy, Widow Febland is all smiles, and she dresses all fancy and..way out of date. But cool. Not every day you see a lady in her 80s do it up like Jackie O.

"Almost done, Ms. Febland!" Sam waves

"Oh you sweet girls have done so much already and you spared the flowerbeds...the last personwhacked away... 'those are weeds' he said... labels labels labels.. it was in my flower bed and it's lovely. People are such prigs" she says

"Totally." A grin.

"Now, later if you wish, In addition to filthy lucre, I can bestow on you lemon tea and crisps"

"Crisps?" She looks at May.

"Kind of like potato chips I think" May says

But the widow is off, possibly to prepare lemonade and crisps.

"She's loco, you know that right?" Lupita says

"Yeah. So?"

"People that care too much about looking normal are a drag."

"Fair point" Lupita says "But she acts like this yard is acres... and that her plain house is a m ansion... so she'sh appy all the..." Lupita stops "you know what? Forget I said anything"

May laughs at that

Sam laughs again. "Exactly."

"I like her, " May says

"Me too."

"Fine, in small doses she's okay" Lupita is the hold out kinda

"Well, you do small doses. I think she's lonely."

"I wouldn't mind doing this sort of thing for her now and then, maybe even without the money" May decides

"Well, camp first, THEN charity..."

"DEFINITELY," Lupita says "Sorry, May."

"No that makes sense" She says

"But lemonade sounds good."

"no kidding, that darn shower earlier, the sun now, it's like a sauna" Lupita says

May nods "I heard Sylvi went to the lake earlier. I can sure see why"

"Oh, she went with Colton."

"I wonder if they can make it work in the summer? He lives in another part of the states?" May says "I don't understand how he can afford all the trips"

"Come to think of it," May blinks "how DOES he afford visiting her? does he fly or... he has a car with great gas deals?"

"Focus on the job, will you?" Lupita says. WHich buys time for the troll to think of excusees if that subject comes up again

And the girls keep mowing.

"Trains."

"He has some kind of weekend thing. Internship."

"Lucky guy" May says "Oo I should ask him how you get in on that sometime"

"FOcus... we're almost done and I want to earn that lemonade" Lupita says

"COLD lemonade."

"Fine fine.." May says "I don't know but would you believe? The Lemonade is freshly squeezed" Chanting

"I don't know, but I been told - the lemonade is mighty cold!"

Lupita sighs "God, it's contagious" but she smiles between her huffing
