I believe. This might be best. It was not part of the deal, but could prove to be useful. The envelope is thick, but seems to be heavy ... paper? Maybe?

"Seems to be the algorithm they're using to find us. I think." (A flick of eyes to Janet for confirmation)

"Frankly, tryin' t'subvert it is gonna take a damn team"

"Yes."

"Maybe should try to get Jimmy and Wayne to help."

He watches her. I can provide what little assistance I have. My man's second is good. Perhaps even better than he was, but without the vanity that he held.

"Don't know what it might do to Jimmy, though."

Can you trust them? His eyes flick to Ice.

"Techies are Autumn People, by and large..."

"Wayne, Unseelie guy, a Nocker? Hell no." (A quick, toothless grin, humorless) "Jimmy, yeah, but don't want him getting fried."

"Wayne, wouldn't put it past him to try and tweak the damn code to improve it, use it himself. It's what I would do, if I could work with that kind of thing. Takes a nocker, I think."

"Too furkin' dangerous to poke at, you ask me."

I tend to agree with that, he murmurs. And yet. We have to find a way to disrupt the signal.

"Also true."

"Well. If he wants to do it, let him take the risk." (A shrug) "Kind of glad I can't. Removes the temptation."

"Good. Do not want furkin' men in black swarming the joint"

"Hey, I only got Secret Service called on me once, and that was years ago."

"I was fourteen." (Two whole years ago. He's scowling)

"Won't happen here."

"Holding you to that, Spiderling."

(He gives a shrug, both arms, hands up, then drops them. Eyes on Kel momentarily) "Too bad you can't stay. Was going to give you the grand tour. She decorated when we moved in."

I am... quite all right. No tour necessary. He blinks. So. Will you assist in a signal disrupt or no?

"I'll do what I can, can't speak for her, though." (A chin-jut to Janet) "Maybe send some people for her to work with, if she wants."

"Like I said, it's over my head."

"I'm... not great at computers."

"I don't get the math, Dria." (Bluntly) "Gematria, that's nocker stuff."

"So. Maybe we work together - Techies are dangerous."

They are indeed, he says quietly. And our magics... do not work so well on them.

"Where do we find them?" (He squints, trying to remember if it said on the drive) "Can we find one?"

"Who the hel...who needs magic? Put a gun on 'em, make them come with us."

Their mere presence is uncomfortable. A Balor acquaintance of mine once had lengthened dealings with one. The next time I met with him, he was in a mortal asylum.

"Their magic works just fine on us. We're damn stage tinkerbelles, wilting, and there's not enough clapping in the world bring you back..."

He put himself there. He sips the tea, rather daintily.

(He thinks this over, dark eyes flicking between them, narrowed. It's obvious he still WANTS to try -- but all he says is) "Okay. Scratch that, for now, then."

"Kind of a...what's the word, conundrum? I mean, they can't see us, they forget we're around, so can't think how they'd know who we are, if we walked up on one."

(Then he mutters a curse in Yiddish, slumping back) "Forget most of us, anyway."

If they create... a spell. A technological wonder. To seek us out, however. They shall sense us. Hunt us.

"Huh." (Trying to wrap his mind around this)

"They don't like - what did that thing call us? Deviants?"

"Yeah, s'what it said."

Deviants. Yes, he murmurs.

"I guess, I mean. Okay, if the Mists -- they make Tech things to find us, but they shouldn't even know there's something to look FOR, you know?" (Still unable to quite figure it out) "But they do. This is why they're dangerous?"

"Maybe it's like that -- how they find black holes." (Thinking out loud)

"They look at the effect they have on, you know, stuff around it. Since you can't see it directly."

He pinches the bridge of his nose. Regardless. Let me know. Should you wish to work with my associate upon creating a counter to it.

"Give him my number."

"Her. Right. Okay." (He is still musing on his idea, the analogy)
