The teenagers are young, stupid, and still not learning empathy as they should. They walk down the street, and with a baseball bat in hand, one takes a whack at a mailbox. It dents deeply! And the youth whoop and laugh and move to another. They trade places at who is at bat, and a bigger boy gets cheers as he knocks the next mailbox clean off!
