"Apple cake, apple cake, I'm gonna get some apple cake." A sing-song whisper as Earl is dragged to the Schwartz home.

Earl smiles as his glances down at the woman at his side "What kind of cake?"

"Ap-ple-cake!"

"is that a good kind of cake?" Playful

A gentle bap on his arm. "I wait all year, Love!"

A beat. "For Ap-ple-cake."

"You do you do" He takes the gentle bap and kisses the side of her cheek

"Mama will have fresh cake, too. And the Uncles are bringing kugel. I am... not certain what Miriam is bringing besides Jacob..."

"Tzzy will be there?"

"Aye. Vashti was invited, but apparently she and Shalimar have something planned."

"The odious heathen"

"Nay, they are happy. Besides, he is on my good list right now."

"Oh?" Curious

"He found me a book."

"Which book?"

Oh, Earl knows that smile.

A chuckle "if I don't pry at least a little you lose some of the fun of knowing what i don't"

"Thou art a most accommodating lover, aye."

"Oh yes, later I'll try tie you up, chortle that soon your secrets will be mine, only to turn away for a moment, turn back and find you've escaped . I'll howl in frustration and anguish as you watch from the shadows content in your victory" A wink, then a pause "or we can just play cards"

A quiet grin. "We shall see. One of them does sound fun."

They come up to the door

Earl straightens his tie "Now we have to behave ourselves"

Earl knocks on the door after wiping his feet

The door opens, and there's Jacob "ick, it's a sister" He makes to close the door on them

"Aye, tis!" She raises her hands in a mock-menacing gesture.

"Jacob, " Tizzy calls out "Don't act like a Dreykop, let her in"

Jacob hurumps and opens the door "Abandon all cool ye who enter here"

"Oh he's just bitter about the Adam outfit" Tiziporah calls

"The Adam outfit?"

"A fig leaf and apple?" earl says surprised

"he lost a wager with me" Tizziporah says "Come in , see for yourself"

Earl guides her in

Clearly this silly shirt will not be worn long, it's an over sized T shirt mockery of a man's bare chest with fig leave patterns at the bottom. Jacob is also wearing a hat with wax food made to look like honey dipped apples on on his head

He sighs

"I see."

"He can't wear that for Rosh Hashanah, " Hannah fusses from the kitchen

"Why not?"

"I want us dressed up nice" Hannah says, then she turns and moves to Zara and Earl "Like Earl, such a nice tie" and she gives Zara a hug "And my daughter, such a nice dress"

Tziporah says "Just 10 more minutes. He should know better than to wager against an Eshu"

Earl looks curious but holds back for now

"What was the wager?"

Mutter mumble from Jacob, so mumbly even hearing it doesn't clear it up

Tziporah smirked "He boasted he could tell a better ghost story than i because sluagh can actually SEE ghosts."

"Well, we can..." A huff

"see ghosts that is' he says, looking betrayed "But the audiance voted her story was better"

"ohhh."

Earl fights a smile "As a rule jacob, it's not wise to challenge an Eshu to a story telling contest"
