Slack might strip them out

slack replaces it with the channel id so <#C9K5HS9JA|> comes through as “#C9K5HS9JA”. but i’m looking that up and putting the channel name back in with a # in front. but the # is disappearing somewhere.

i do not feel like chasing it down right now so i’m going to leave a TODO comment and look at it some other time.

oh no i just did something in the wrong order so the update didn’t actually get applied.

but that means slack isn’t sending the channels as their channel ids, it’s just sending the name in plain text. so i don’t have anything to look up. oh well.

the user name lookups should work.

i tried that. there is one ruby library for converting slack to html, and it’s broken. there’s a javscript one that works but the algorithm is really complicated and i don’t want to port it. i just wrote my own.
