A text hits Dagmars phone at early hours

She checks her phone as she climbs the steps.

TXT: Clem here. The family is on Hurricane help duty and rescue. You're welcome to come along if you like, understand if you can't

TXT: I can help!

TXT: How long will it take you to the farm?

TXT: Crap, at least an hour to get to RV and leave from there

TXT: well, we were thinking of inviting Siv along on this one. She might cut your time down to us. Found out Gerd is busy. Or I can send Earl, he fFs too

TXT: I'm at school, so

TXT Right. Rutgers. Oh hey, Earl's been there afore while he and Zara were shopping around for colleges.

TXT: I'll get on the horn, you get ready. Don't reccomend the heavy armor

TXT: ok

And she has time to get gear

Shower and stuff things in her backpack. Grab Flyswatter.

Symon was waiting as Dagmar darted in and ran into the shower.

Sam emerges, wearing a robe and with her hair wrapped up in a towel.

And there is a knock at the door

“Again?”

He eyes the door suspiciously

"Again? It's early."

“Yeah.” He considers. “Where are you going?”

"Got a text from Clem, they're doing hurricane evac. Wanna help? You got good skills."

“Uh. You sure? I can’t, like, carry anyone. Or swim well.”

“By the way, Sylvi had to take off.” He says, casually. “Gerd fetched her for something she had to help with up near Dark Gate.”

"You can squirm in tight spaces, and are canny at figuring out where hidden dangers are, or weak points, and Quetz is great at finding things..."

"Oh yeah? Hope everything's okay there."

"Especially with the Colton Situation."

“Do you want to take your flying horse saddle thing? You could skim the flood waters and grab folk off roofs. Like, helicopter rescue Valkyrie.”

“I’m sure it’s nothing Sylvi can’t handle.”

"Oh, that's an idea..."

“Then again, Pegasus in a hurricane…”

"Sylvi's capable, sure. She might need some care when she gets back."

“Probably still safer than on the ground?”

"Yeah, don't want to risk the horse."

“Like, an axe wound? Or like, triple fudge ice cream?”

"Ice cream, I bet."

"Sure you don't wanna come? We're a good team..."

He considers, then, “you know, yeah. Sure. But if I get washed away, just tell Mom that Jimmy was supposed to be watching me.”

Snort-grin. "Can do."

He finally answers the due, just cracking it. Gotta install a chain latch.

“Yeah?”

Earl says "Ah, I'm here for ..dagmar?" Blinky but there "Sorry, got woke up fast"

"I need five! Come in!"

Earl yawns and staggers in if allowed "My cousin forgets I don't live on the farm anymore. "

Sam slips into her room to get dressed.

“Hey, I know how to deal with this.” He vanished into the kitchen for just a minute.

"Mmm?"

returning with one of the troll-size mugs of coffee.

“It’s instant. Sorry.”
