Olgar lays out, defeated. Downed. A foe he cannot best. A cold... or is it a flu? No, he must rise!

The cold says no.

So he stays in his bedroom trying to self medicate with coffee, whiskey, and willpower.

Kerri has, by this point, discovered her husband's predicament, and she's not satisfied with that self-medication routine. She comes in the room with a large bowl of hot chicken soup. "Think you can sit up enough to eat a bit of this?"

"you... you go on... hon... I'm... I'm gonna be fi...fine," He coughs "I can't even smell the soup."

She gives him a look, then casually says, "Okay then. Roll over. I'll give it to you with an enema."

"How did I come to marry such a cruel person?" He looks heavenward in questioning prayer, but apparently somewhere up there a goddess is sniggering so that's no good. He sits up slow and easy, "fine."

She sets the bowl on the bedside table and helps prop him up with pillows. "There you go." She also clears away the pile of used tissues that didn't make it to the garbage.

"I can beat this thing," He says "But you should hang back.. I don't want you to get this..." He takes the spoon and sips the soup, not expecting to be able to taste it with his doomed (DOOMED!!) senses.

"Unlike some people I know, I remember to wash my hands regularly." The soup is savory and well spiced, so at least a little of it is getting through the sinus blockade.

"I wash my hands," Olgar grumbles but has to admit "I can actually taste it. Thanks."

"Good. I wasn't sure if I'd put too much pepper in there. I'm glad it's enough." She rests the back of her hand against his forehead. "How're you feeling?"

A bleary look, "Irked. I'm normally a tough guy, and while I normally detest masculine stereotypes, I really thought I could handle this with a bit of friggin can do." A cough, "it's okay though."

"Mm, yes. Decades and decades of good health, but you should absolutely kick yourself for coming down with a cold once." She pats his shoulder. "Eat more. Part of the crankiness is because you haven't eaten."

"Is not," He says crankily because he hasn't eaten.

But he does have another spoon.

As he eats, Kerri gently kenns him, trying to see if this is anything other than a simple cold.

Echo has been loyally at the foot of the bed save when he himself had to leave to eat or drink.

Kerri gives the pup a grin and reaches into a pocket for a dog biscuit, which she offers over.

It looks like a purely mundane cold has hit Olgar at a moment of vulnerability, and rather than take even over the counter meds to dull the symptoms and keep it from escalating, her loving husband decided to tough it out, but then WHAM it eventually swamped him.

Echo waits till allowed, then scarfs it, and wags gratefully, before returning to watch duty.

"Lut and Tig got... my patrols. I still issue orders now and then," Olgar says between slurps.

She nods. "They'll take care of things. And a bit later I'll head out and pick up some actual meds. I know one that will knock you right out for hours while letting you breathe easy."

"No no, can't be knocked out, if an emergency comes up I can still fight, but I can't be doped up," He covers his mouth to stop a cough going her way, "i'm storm now."

"You think Brekke never slept?"

"mmphm" A grumble reluctant to yield to logic.

Echo huffs at him, taking Kerri's side in this.

"That's right, Echo, you tell him."

"Et tu, fuzzball?" Olgar takes more soup "Fine, but if I am out cold and miss ragnorok because of it, I will be angry with your my next two spins of the cycle until we find each other again just so I can say "I tole ya so"" He yields as gracefully as a very sick man might which is to say not much.

"I'm counting on that, and I'll take the risk." She sits on the edge of the mattress, close to his feet. "I'm guessing you're going to feel a bit worse before you start feeling better. Sorry."

"Eh, given what you went through when carrying Sylvi gave you acid reflux for a week, I shouldn't whine. Bring it on and all that," He looks at Kerri, "i know I'm a crappy patient at the best of times but in case I forget, I love you even when I'm a jackass."

He covers a sneeze with his sleeve.

She grins fondly. "Nice job, reminding me of your heroism when I was pregnant-zilla. You've more than earned a bit of compassion." A wink.

"You know I don't know if we ever told Sylvi about that week of acid reflux," A chuckle "Didn't want to guit trip about it, or is it just a past is past thing? " The cough follows the chuckle but at least he's trying to perk up.

"Hm, I'll get some cough drops, too. And if you think I didn't hold that over her head once or twice when I really needed her to do something, you don't know me well enough."

"Diabolical," He says "About the holding it over her, not the cough drops," A sigh and he says "Could we not tell her about me being laid out? this is embarrassing as it is."

"She might suspect something if she doesn't see you on patrol, but I won't tell her before she comes asking. You might get lucky and avoid her curiosity. But I'm not going to keep it a secret from her if she does ask."

"Do you need anything?"

Grumbling but a nod "Fair. mmm need anything?" A sigh "Maybe a new audiobook. One with a sexy voice likes yours?"

the cold has dulled his sly attempts to flatter, but hey, he's trying.

A blink. "You think there's another sexy voice like mine?"

Olgar might suspect that he has stepped into a trap.

A long slurp to buy himself time.

really, quite the long sip /slurp.

Her stare doesn't waver.

"I think it's time for me to sleep now, yup... wouldn't want to keep you.." He curls to bed...

She relents with a bit of a chuckle and pats his shoulder again. "I think that's a good idea." She tucks the blankets up around his shoulders. "I'll go get that medicine."

"Love you." He says and does try to sleep though he'll need the meds for a restful one.

"Love you, too." She picks up the empty bowl and leaves.

Echo lays down nearby unless called. He can help!
