Olgar fights dirty

The kick to Dagmar's midsection was enough to take the wind out of her. She had thought tangling their weapons would reduce his options, but well, the Rover is an old soldier who doesn't always play by rules. Their practice weapons aside, it's been educational for both. Dagmar is learning more about fighting of all sorts, and Olgar is learning...

He thinks he could still take her MOST of the time, but most of the time used to be 8 times out of 10. Later it became 7.. .now? 6 out of 10.

And a forty percent chance of a loss is both a source of pride, for he helped teach her some, mostly it was brekke though; and a blow to his ego.

She grunts at the kick - she's fighting without her armor, so she certainly feels every punch - but it also helps with her speed.

Symon lurks by the side of the practice arena, trying to keep the look of half concern, half scowl off his face. He knows practice is important, but that doesn't mean he LIKES to watch Dagmar get pummelled. Even if she is doing 40% of the pummeling.

He twists the tangled weapons, trying to do so fast so he can disarm her before she can cement her grip further

Many would assume her size and bulk would make her slow. Lumbering, even. But no. Years of basketball taught her to stay fast and nimble. She suddenly pulls back from Olgar, spinning around to land an elbow on his kidneys as she circles behind him.

Her shot isn't perfect, he's quicker than he looks too, but more than that, he's had just about everything tried on him here or in the Dreaming. Still, she gets a grunt back for her impressive blow even as he ALMOST has her weapon out of BOTH hands... almost

She loves melee - Flyswatter is practically an extension of her by now - but she knows she cannot be entirely reliant on any weapon.

Still - now free, she dances away so she can take advantage of the practice polearm's reach.

Olgar moves forward seemingly about to spear himself... then, Symon sees it, a bit of glamour in play, messing with Dagmar's perceptions but she doesn't know it

His eyes narrow, but he does not interfere. He watches.

Dagmar goes on the offense, a sweep at the Rover's knees.

And misses entirely as the phantom vanishes and she realizes there's a knife to her throat, a big old practice knife, the axe in Olgar's other hand "Good work. If this had been a fair fight, I think you would have had me. "

He's not joking, nor lying. He speaks true

Symon slides off the fence and approaches. Once he is within earshot, he whispers to Olgar, "If it were a real fight, we'd have had you. I don't fight fair." A thin smile.

"She could have called for you anytime, Symon. " Olgar both concedes, AND points out that rules werent saying that she couldn't have "She didn't , but that's neither here nor there."

That said, his tone for both is proud respect

A scowl. "Two against one in a spar ain't fair."

A huff. "Shoulda seen it."

He rests a hand on her arm. "I did. So, we did."

"Chicanery, " he says "Hard to see even for us. Slaugh" A nod to Symon "have some edges there. Probably one reason they can be quietly smug" Then back to Dagmar "Look, one day , if you still want it, you maybe Storm. And UNFORTUNATELY, Storm has 'I am a bad ass martial type' writen all over it. Folks hear that, they KNOW you're combat ready, so a lot of folks will think it means we're shit for magic, or at dealing with magic, and work the angle accordingly. You know what its like to be underestimated in the brain department, and how clever you fight proves it's bullshit. You ARE smart but I'm showing you a few 'what ifs' when others mix in magic. Siv got her ass beat three times one day until on the fourth 'no rules' she just turned me into a turtle and dunked my ass in a rainbarrel." He is not proud of that, but it's fair to mention

She places her other hand over his.

"If It were I, I'd have turned you into a tortoise." Dry smile. "Turtles can swim."

"Magic isn't my strong point." A thoughtful look at Symon.

"Strong is your strong point, my strength."

Even as his ears go a bit bruise colored at Olgar overhearing.

"And there you go, Symon is a valuable resource. Now being loud is not his stichik, but if you get into a duel with someone and see him flashing you a sign , you'd trust it right?"

She brushes her thumb along his cheek and nods. "Does remind me that I want to work some on it, though. Primal, I think. Healing."

"Oh, I trust Symon implicitly. With my life." Gwydion AND troll. Subtle, she's not.

"So he could have pointed where I really was and all the magic in the world would have been undone." Olgar smiles "Something about pride before the fall for me there. As for your lessons, we'll keep you up to date in magic too. "

"You're doing well, Dagmar. I just want to give you new experiences where things are decidely not fair while still being less lethal. What do YOU think you learned today?"

"Not to make assumptions. Figure out a good signal if Sy notices something hinky."

"All right, than this sparing was a success. You lived, you learned; that's close enough to a win for a beer and pretzels" A smirk "Or in your case a Dr. Pepper"

"Hey, I'm a simple creature."

"Yeah you are but no shame in it" He says being a rather simple guy himself "I leave the 'signals' between you and Symon for you two to sort out"

"Well, more effective if they're secret, anyways."

"There's that" he says "I've got a few codewords that aare Roveronly. "

"Now, you take a break, I'm gonna shower off. " He nods to Symon as well, and heads off
