Dirk tries a boast, but when it starts to drift towards turning a land lord who was asking for sexual favors into a human pretzel... folks change the subject on him.

Kerri has a large steak waiting specifically to distract him in just such an occasion.

Sylvi hesitates a bit before standing, smiling. "I've had boasts to share in the past, but...I don't really have one this time. I mean, I did, but Symon stole it." A glare she doesn't particularly mean, followed by a wink.

Distracted, Dirk chows down

Symon looks a bit relieved, perhaps glad that he beat her to the punch.

"ANYway...my boast is not for my fae life this time, but my mortal one. And...it's not really exciting, but...I'm glad of it. I, um...finished my Associates Degree, and I got my teaching certificate, and..." she looks at her parents. "I got a job. Official as of today. Substitute teaching in the Rivervale schools." A blush of pride. "So...like I said, not exciting, but...I'm proud."

"SKOL!"

"Hey!" Kerri says, surprised and delighted. "You didn't tell me you were.... Well, it's a good thing. I was going to start nagging you after another week." She goes over and hugs her daughter.

Olgar grins "Hot damn..."

Sylvi hugs back and laughs happily at Dagmar's cheer.

A round of congratulations and approval and drinks!

Vali smiles "let me know if you want any input from someone who has been in the grinder"

Sylvi gives him a wide-eyed nod. "I'll take all the help I can get, yeah."

Then she re-takes her seat.

More cheers, and Olgar gives her a kiss on top of her head with a whispered "proud of you, Rugmonster" though Symon probably hears that

"Daa-aaad." But she looks pleased.

Gerd says "I have a boast, but it's old news?"

"Boast, Gerd!" Sylvi coaxes her.

Kerri agrees. "Tell us!"

"Go Gerd!"

Brekke nods, quiet but interested.

"You all know I have an Eating disorder, and there's always a danger of backsliding, but my therapist is now only seeing mme once a month, and when I mentioned being depressed a month ago... it's all good now, he asked how strong was the temptation. I said 'for what' and he says 'any food related temptation' and to my.. to my surprise. I didn't think about food one way or another then. He says it's a great sign.. and he's right."

"Wow!" Sylvi says, and she means it.

"That's huge, Gerd. One victory in a long war. Well done." Kerri toasts her, and others follow suit.

"I know right?" Gerd grins and takes the applause

Dagmar offers Gerd a hug when she returns to the circle.

Gerd returns it, "Thanks" And she sits down.

Vali says "Now that Brekke is no longer the boss, I think I can boast... my Silverhand books? They're now in Audiobook form, and I got a great lady to do the voice for it. "

"I LOVE Those" Siv says "Who did you get to voice it?"

A wince from the former Chieftain, and she puts one hand to her face, but it's something of a parody of actual dismay.

That gets some chuckles

Vali smiles "Nice lady, Lives in New Platz New York"

"Those things have inspired dreamers," Sylvi mentions. "Hey, I wonder if there are fan clubs?"

"Actually yes" Siv says "It's not huge..."

"Thanks" Vali observes

Then wide eyes. "Chief-... I mean, Aunt Brekke, you should come back one year and go to ComiCon and cosplay yourself! I wish I'd thought of that YEARS ago!"

"Compared to like George RR Martin or Sanderson, " Siv continues "But yes Uncle Vali's books have an MMORPG that's iffy, but a lot of fans"

A puzzled look from the grump. "Cosplay?"

"Cosplay" Siv nods "it's loads of fun, and I LVOVE that idea, Sylvi"

Brekke looks dubious. "I suppose we will discuss it. At some point."

"There's a tumblr tag. And a subreddit. And, like, then there's AO3..."

"Yup. Honestly, there's even folks that like the Post Apoc trucker story Vali TOTALLY based on Dad"

'No one can legally prove that" vali comments

"And then there was that Silverhand Challenge on tiktok..."

"OH that was fun" Siv nods

"Yeah, the fans got really creative there" Vali nods "I wasn't ever going to mention it out here though. Did you guys take part in that?"

Brekke looks from person to person, but simply does not understand half of what is being said.

"I kept meaning to," Sylvi says, "but it was trending at a really busy time."

She shrugs. "Yeah. Course."

"No worries, Sylvi. I was just curious, and thanks , Dagmar. " Vali sips "It was nice how some folks tied it to a charity"
