"they got no thrust, it's a stupid Wind catcher!" One nocker sneers

Brekke grins wolfishly, takes a deep breath, and BLOWS, casting Eldrich Prime to call wind and fill the sails further.

She hears a soft laugh from Frank, pleased and proud.

the winds fill sails and the Kestrel spreads it's proverbial wings! And it shoots past the nocker's clinking clanking collection of caliginous junk

but can they hold the lead? For the nockers are hammering and cursing their vehicle on!

They may be cursing, but Brekke's words for the Kestrel are full of pride and affection for the ship, a string of Norse coaxing them onwards!

The two work together... getting further and further ahead

Then one of the nockers says "Okay, add the dragon blood to the fuel intake!"

"RIGHTO!"

And the damned nocker vehicle starts to catch up...

rattling and shaking as it does, great flames out of it

and it begins to pass the Kestrel...

Frank, however, is no stranger to tech himself. And he knows when a vehicle's engine is about to say enough is enough. That nocker craft is... well, it won't keep that up

"A bit more, bright bird!" The words ring out in the old language.

And the Kestrel responds, she is not some new comer to sea or wind, she has raced against dragons, and won, so this device, while no enemy, will not be her better. She flies, and her own hull groans just a bit with the effort but now they are racing side by side.

Brekke listens carefully to that groan. Is it effort only, or is the ship risking itself?

A true troll ship, of course she risks herself ... though not extreme yet

"Get some distance!" Frank roars "Nocker flaw immanent!"

Brekke leans on the tiller to steer away, the ship making a sweeping arc.

And it proves wise to listen to Frank, and lucky that a ship captain as skilled as Brekke is at the tiller...

as the heat from the dragonfire doesn't just fuel the nocker ship.... it melts the adhesives on some gears inside, and there's abrupt banging popping clanging and the nockers ship blows out it's entire bottom half! And that half ship they're riding on begins to plummet

"HEEEELLLLP!!" One of them calls out //"SAVE US" Says the other!

Brekke reaches towards the ship with her silver hand, and then yanks back hard, yelling "Heave-HO!" She'll hopscotch as many as she can, but some of that's a matter of fate.

Frank likewise hopscotches, bunking with a song "Trailer's for sale or rent
Rooms to let, 50 cents
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road!!"

Brekke grins over at him.

The nockers are hopscotched to the deck of the Kestrel with a clumsy landing for each, perhaps a lesson from the dreaming, or maybe the kestrel just happens to shift in a way that allows a LITTTLE Lesson

"oh no... our ship" "Yup, it's furked" The other says

"Is it? A shame." Brekke is back to steering, and the Kestrel is settling into a more sedate pace. "Where do you need transport to?"

"Hackensack" They both say

"I see." She turns and aims for Hackensack.

They watch as their vessel crashesa nd burns, then look at Frank and Brekke who, together, hopscotched them together and saved their lives

Being nockers, perhaps it's no surprise that one says "Furking fine...the race is a draw"

Brekke gives him a very skeptical brow. "Perhaps we should simply land in Rivervale."

"Mmphm." Frank goes about his sailing business.

"Okay okay... you won.. geez"

"Hm." A nod, and she sets a course to deliver them home.

It goes actually smoothly, the wind still with the kestrel... and perhaps the ship is happy to show off, or maybe it is happy to get rid of thise tech loving freeloaders

And soon, the nockers are hopscotched DOWN to ground level, and Brekke and Frank are sailing again

just the two of them.

The rest of the night is... well, lovely. The Sky, The Ship, the king of the road, and his beloved Alaska
