Brekke crouches down and pats the orange gourd. "This is a pumpkin," she says to the dog. "You may be surprised by how it looks in a few weeks."

She sniffs again, and snorts. If this pumpkin proves to be a foe, it shall know her fangs. If it be friend, it will be guarded also

Brekke grins and stands again. "Small ones are good for fetch."

At the word FETCH Signe looks up attentive and hopeful

She definitely approves of the decor. And she chuckles at Signe. "Fetch? Find a stick."

And off she goes, zooming and returns with a stick quite promptly.

As she goes, Brekke looks at the Lodge again. "This is not your doing this time, is it?" she murmurs to the walls and roof.

Somewhere inside the fire flares as if in a shrug to say I closed my eyes for an hour tops

Quiet amusement, and she takes the stick that Signe presents. "Ready?" And the stick goes FLYING!

Signe pursues, that stick shall know canine teeth1

And then she returns!

She grabs the stick, playing tug with Signe for a few moments until the dog releases to allow another throw.

Oh she's dedicated. She pulls tug back with stregnth, but she's joyous when the next throw comes

She and signe have a joyful time, playing fetch back and forth, sometimes tug

And then as they Finish, a famliar voice says "Mom, you were actually openly having fun"

A blink, and she turns. "Siv." A nod. "Yes. As was Signe, I think."

Indeed, Signe has worked up a firm wag

"It has been known to happen, you know."

Siv nods faux somberly "Until now, I had only heard the legends"

"Oh, come now. You remember no such times from your childhood?"

She looks thoughtful, and then ponders "I..do remember.. one time, we were... we were staring at the horizon...and paralel to us, on the sea there was a light..." A pause "no, no it was a thunderstorm.... you showed me the thunderstorm at sea.. ... and, you .. it wasn't coming at us, just racing along side. You ...you had me help steer the ship to race it. You were smiling"

Pleased, with a touch of melancholy. "I am glad you have that memory."

"I didn't remember that until Now" She admits looking a bit thoughtful and..yeah, touched then she pets Signe "but I'm glad Signe is fun for you and vice versa"

"She is a Good Dog," Brekke declares with quiet certainty. "Now...what have you been up to?"

"Oh, among other things," She gestures to the decor "Helping Lily and Cleo with that. Caught them on the roof. Rather than yank em down I figured, not a bad idea. And made sure they didn't fall over. Ah," A nervous look "You like our work?"

"Ah! I was wondering." She looks up to the roof again and nods. "Very good. It is welcoming."

"You are good with children, Siv," she observes.

"Thanks" Siv says surprised at that compliment "Theyre sweet little ones though. Oh sure, poor Cleo is a bundle of mess and Lily's born trouble with a vulnerable side, but the childlings around here period are good kids. Kassidy's great. And who wouldn't love Connor? "

"They are good, yes. How is your squire progressing?"

"Kassidy's coming along splendidly" Siv says proudly, "Sword work really on her game, she took some horse lesson with dagmar, and I've taken her to sea. She's getting less time on her lore lessons. Mountain Vali's too busy to help , though I've been picking it up where I can"

And Siv talks about Kassidy and her friends. Turns out Siv IS good with kids.

A compliment that may have Brekke wondering if... in several years, she mgiht be a grandmother
