"They went to you instead of me?" Vali arches a brow

"Ah," Zane gulps "Some wanted to get you but you were on a long patrol?"

"Uh huh" Vali's brows knit . "Won't lie, bit pride damaging, but as it's not my pride that's paramount right now... let's compare what we each learned by omens"

"Dancer with a broken leg" Zane reminds and shows his rough attempt to draw "Okay I'm not an artist.. and I didn't even try to draw the cut torn open wider"

"And I used hair from the young girl's brush in my bunk" The Mountain reads "And I got the crime scene victim, like mugging or .. well, other comparisons are nastier. And Images of a winged cop dusting her off. That's sparrow. The victim with empty pockets, out turned"

"Man I know a girl who could read these images and snap them together like that" Zane snaps his fingers "She's really good."

"I may ask you to call her if we brainfry on this" Vali nods

"But you're the Mountain and clearly feel you should have been in on this from the start?" Zane guesses

"Any Mountain who lets his pride keep a little girl from getting all the help she can has lost sight of the true purpose of his calling" Vali says "You think Frank would have hesittated to yank folks in and put their cantrips to work?"

Zane shakes his head "Nope. He wouldn't"

"He and I agree on that" Vali says, "Now one clue is my omen seems modern. I'm not sure this is entirely a past life situation"

"Well, they've had cop shows for awhile but I get you, if it is a past life it's a recent one?" Zane nods

"Agreed. Something is up... and we consult troll history" Vali says grabbing books

"Pardon?" Zane blinks "History? I thought it was symbology"

"IF it is a past life, it is possible we have a record of a troll who either was blighted before, OR.. who disfigured an innocent. Da'an and dreaming loves poetry" Vali reminds "But there's still an injustice involved. So I am not sure about this"

"But we can look up past stories of trolls before.. that's..like finding a needle in a haystack isn't it?" Zane says

"Welcome to the wonderful world of historical research when you're a mythological being" Vali smiles "Hit the books with me, 'wiz' symbols and history/tales o trolls"

"Yes, Mountain" Zane sighs and does it "Spending with a teacher voluntarily... I used to be cool"

"Ah Zane," Vali pats him on the back "Neither of us was EVER that cool"

"HA you can't catch me!" Jack Flap runs the game of tag is easy when the Troll is it, and everyone seems quicker than her

"Sorry Ashlee" Layne yells as she too is too fast

"Are magic and other things allowed?" The troll asks chasing

"Won't help you, sure!" Jack Flap says

The girl nods and pulls out something from her side, and whips it about... then she throws!

"Ha you can't catch mee EEE " Jack gasps as the the odd tethered balls collection wraps about his legs and he falls down with an OOFFF

He struggles to shake them off, but they wound firm and he doesn't have time.

Careful not to get her shoes dirty, or her dress too mused, Ashblythe walks over and taps his nose "Tag, you're it"

"What's THIS thing?" He says pointing

"It's Bolas" SHe says "the used it into South America to catch things by the legs like run away cattle or the like. Squire Rose told me about them.. and they sounded neat. I mean, I'm not fast but this lets me catch quick targets."

"That's cheating" Jack fusses

"Is not," Ashlee says "I said are other things allowed, and you said it wouldn't help so .. don't blame me if you were wrong"

Jack GLARES, then as is a satyr's want says 'okay, they ARE neat"

"really neat" Layne says

"I'm it..." the satyr unwinds it or tries to, and Ashlee yeeps and runs

The game goes on, with the ugly girl getting a bit more respect from her peers
